Qualcomm introduces Snapdragon X70 as the new 5G modem

Qualcomm has announced a number of firsts in the connectivity and automotive segments, notably with new components for 5G networking and Wi-Fi 7.

The highlights are the Snapdragon X70 modem and the FastConnect 7800.

Snapdragon X70 Modem

One of Qualcomm’s main launches at the fair was the Snapdragon X70 5G RF-modem system. It consists of the fifth generation of solution aimed at providing the 5G mobile network.

The highlight of the component is in the global pioneering in bringing a 5G processor of Artificial Intelligence. In addition, the performance reaches download speeds of 10Gbit, with high upload rate, low latency, wide coverage and energy efficiency.

The X70 also introduces the Qualcomm 5G AI Suite, a new design aimed at optimizing sub-6 GHz and millimeter-wave antennas in order to improve speeds and mobility.

The modem comes with an upgradeable architecture to, in the future, adapt to the features of the Release 16 for the 5G network quickly, through software updates.

Products equipped with the component are expected in the second half of 2022, with commercial devices expected to launch later in the year.

Qualcomm FastConnect 7800

Another technology is the Qualcomm FastConnect 7800. It is designed to support Wi-Fi 7, with technology to use 5GHz and 6GHz bands simultaneously, with peak speeds of up to 5.8Gbps.

Latency has also been reduced and can be as low as 2 ms. Also is the intelligent Dual Bluetooth, with the aim of delivering half the consumption, reducing connection time and increasing amplitude.

The first product with Wi-Fi 7 support is scheduled to announce in the second half of 2022.
