It may have tons of issues since launch and accumulated a lot of refunds but Cyberpunk 2077 reportedly had the biggest digital launch of all time based on digital revenue and digital units sold.

Cyberpunk 2077 sold at about 10.2 million copies with PC having the biggest bulk of 80% in sales. This is according to SuperData’s report they released for the worldwide digital games market report for December 2020. Keep in mind that in mid-December, Sony pulled out the game in their PlayStation Store due to its performance issues with PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

It also shows in the report the digital copies that were refunded but SuperData noted that its “its data shows that refunds did not substantially affect the game’s aggregate sales.”

Cyberpunk 2077 helped increase digital sales and reached $12 billion in December. This is a 15% increase year-over-year and made December the highest monthly total revenue ever. Comparing this with 2019, PC had a 40% increase while consoles boomed at about 16%.

Also included in the report are the earnings for Fortnite, both on PC and console, that since 2020 August, they had been experiencing quite a number of players compared with August of 2019.

Lastly, Grand Theft Auto V’s Cayo Perico Heist’s release made it GTA V’s highest monthly release when it comes to digital earnings. However, Among Us’ players have dwindled down since November which reported to have “roughly half a billion users” which was still “2.8 times as popular as the next-popular as the next-popular game, Roblox.”
