Spotify, the popular music streaming service, is introducing a trial for video-based courses in the United Kingdom. Teaming up with educational technology companies such as BBC Maestro, PLAYvirtuoso, Skillshare, and Thinkific, Spotify aims to offer users access to a range of educational content alongside their music and podcasts.
In this trial, users in the UK can now discover and purchase video courses covering diverse topics like music creation, creativity, business skills, and healthy living. These courses provide listeners with opportunities to expand their knowledge while enjoying their favorite tunes.
The initiative allows educational creators to tap into Spotify’s extensive user base, potentially reaching more engaged listeners. Notably, around half of Spotify’s Premium subscribers have shown interest in educational and self-help podcasts.
During the trial, both Free and Premium users can access at least two lessons per course for free before deciding to purchase additional content. This feature is accessible through a dedicated web page.
