Huawei has unveiled its first flagship series under the new Pura branding, known as the Pura 70 series. The series consists of four models, each boasting its own set of features, the Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro+, and the top-of-the-line Pura 70 Ultra.
The Pro features a 6.8 inches OLED screen with a resolution of 2844 x 1260. This high-quality display supports a variable refresh rate of 1-120Hz and offers high-frequency PWM dimming at 1440Hz, ensuring smooth visuals and comfort for the eyes. The display can achieve a peak brightness of up to 2500 nits, making it easy to view even in bright outdoor environments. For added durability, the screen is protected by second-generation Kunlun glass, which offers a 100% improvement in drop resistance.
On the other hand, the vanilla version is equipped with a slightly smaller 6.6 inches OLED display with a resolution of 2760 x 1256. Like its Pro counterpart, it also utilizes the second-generation Kunlun glass for display protection.
Under the hood, the Pro is powered by the new Kirin 9010 chipset, which builds on the performance of its predecessor, the Kirin 9000S. The Kirin 9010 features a unique architecture with two high-performance cores running at 2.30GHz, six medium cores at 2.18GHz, and four power-efficient cores at 1.55GHz. The graphics processing unit (GPU) remains the same as the previous generation, featuring the Maleoon 910 GPU.
The base version is powered by a slightly modified version of the Kirin 9000S chip, called the Kirin 9000S1, which is a slightly underclocked variant. Both phones operate on HarmonyOS 4.2, Huawei’s proprietary operating system.
Battery life and charging capabilities differ between the two models. The Pura 70 Pro houses a 5050 mAh battery, which supports rapid charging options: 100W wired charging, 80W wireless charging, and 20W reverse wireless charging. In contrast, the Pura 70 comes with a 4900 mAh battery that supports 66W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. Notably, both models offer satellite connectivity.
When it comes to photography, the Pura 70 Pro’s camera system is highly advanced. It features a 50MP main sensor with variable aperture settings (F1.4-F4.0) and optical image stabilization. Additionally, there is a 48MP macro telephoto lens with 35x super macro capabilities and an F2.1 aperture, as well as a 12.5 MP ultrawide camera with an F2.2 aperture. The XD Motion engine helps capture fast-moving subjects, while the macro lens can focus as close as 5cm.
