Arm has introduced CSS for Mobile 2, a new platform designed to improve AI performance and graphics on future smartphones.
The platform combines new CPU and GPU technologies to help phones handle AI features, apps, and games more efficiently.
One of its main components is the Arm Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU, Arm’s new mobile graphics processor. It is the company’s first mobile GPU with dedicated hardware for AI-powered graphics. Arm says it can improve graphics performance while using less power.

The GPU also has an updated ray tracing unit, which can help supported games produce more realistic lighting and visual effects.
For AI tasks, CSS for Mobile 2 also includes the new Arm C2 CPU cluster. It is designed to process AI tasks directly on smartphones and help them respond faster.

Compared with the previous C1-Ultra, Arm says the C2-Ultra delivers up to 1.7x higher AI performance and up to 15% higher single-core performance. It can also use up to 38% less power while delivering the same level of performance.
Arm is also providing software tools to help developers create apps and AI features that can use the new hardware.
CSS for Mobile 2 is designed for future smartphone chips, but Arm has not yet announced which specific phones will use it.
