Today, we have a new vivo smartphone to review. This time, we’re looking at a device that focuses on three key areas: photography, performance, and battery life.
This is the vivo V80, so let’s take a closer look at what it has to offer.
Design and Build
First, let’s talk about its design and build. Our review unit comes in the Starwish Purple color variant, featuring a galaxy-themed design that looks clean and subtle.
In terms of build quality, the device features a glass back and an aluminum frame, giving it a more premium feel. It weighs 203 grams and measures 7.7mm thick, making it relatively slim and lightweight considering its battery capacity.

The vivo V80 also comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, providing additional protection when using the phone outdoors.
Overall, the vivo V80 offers a design that balances aesthetics, durability, and practicality.
Display
Moving on to the display, the vivo V80 features a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and a peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits.

In terms of display quality, the screen looks good. Since it uses an AMOLED panel, we get vibrant colors, deep blacks, and good contrast when watching videos. The high refresh rate also makes scrolling through social media and navigating the home screen feel smooth.
Whether you’re watching YouTube, scrolling through TikTok, browsing Facebook, or watching movies, the display delivers an enjoyable viewing experience.
Camera
Now, let’s head outside and talk about the camera department.
The vivo V80 features a triple-camera setup consisting of a 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. On the front, it also houses a 50MP selfie camera.
For low-light photography, the vivo V80 performs well in environments with multiple light sources.
Our shots show good detail and sharpness, along with pleasing color reproduction despite the challenging lighting conditions. We also noticed minimal softness around the edges, which is a positive sign for low-light performance.
Selfie Camera Sample
Overall, the camera system shows potential, particularly when shooting in environments with sufficient ambient lighting.
Performance and Gaming
With the cameras out of the way, let’s talk about performance.
Under the hood, the vivo V80 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. Our review unit comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
In everyday use, the chipset is capable of handling common tasks such as social media browsing, light multitasking, and navigating between applications. We didn’t encounter any noticeable slowdowns when running multiple applications in the background.

For gaming, we tested the device with Monster Hunter Outlanders using the Low graphics preset and High frame rate setting. Performance was decent, although we experienced some minor stutters and frame drops during gameplay. Despite these issues, the game remained playable.

Benchmark Results
- AnTuTu Benchmark: 1,229,409
- Geekbench 6: 1012 / 3508
- Geekbench OpenCL: 1604
- Geekbench Vulkan: 2394
- 3DMark Wild Life: 1832
- PCMark Battery Test: 18hrs & 32mins
Battery and Charging
Finally, let’s talk about battery life.
The vivo V80 packs a 7,200mAh battery paired with 90W fast charging. Its large battery capacity is one of the device’s key features, particularly for users who want longer usage between charges.

Although we weren’t able to record the test, we conducted a video playback loop test starting at 60% battery. After 2 hours and 55 minutes, the battery level dropped to 45%, representing a 15-percentage-point decrease.

Based on this test, the device consumed approximately 5.14% of its battery per hour. While this is only one test and doesn’t represent every usage scenario, it provides an initial look at the phone’s battery consumption during video playback.
Pricing and Verdict
In the Philippines, the vivo V80 is available in two configurations:
- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage: PHP 42,999
- 8GB RAM + 256GB storage: PHP 47,999
Overall, the vivo V80 is an interesting smartphone, particularly for users who prioritize photography and battery life. Its display is impressive, and the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is capable enough for everyday tasks. However, its large 7,200mAh battery is arguably its main selling point.
Would I recommend it? Personally, not at its current price. The vivo V80 feels quite expensive, especially if you’re considering the 128GB variant. At this price point, there are other smartphones on the market that offer competitive features and more storage for a similar amount.
That said, the decision ultimately depends on your priorities. If you prefer vivo’s ecosystem and value the phone’s camera system, display, and large battery, the V80 may still be worth considering.
