vivo V80 Lite Gaming Review

Last week, we shared our initial experience with the vivo V80 Lite.

This time, we tested its gaming performance across seven popular mobile games to see how well it handles casual and demanding titles.

We also tracked its FPS and temperature during gameplay to monitor its performance. Here are our results.

Mobile Legends

We started with Mobile Legends. The vivo V80 Lite had a starting temperature of 36.6°C, and we used the highest available graphics settings.

Although the frame rate did not consistently reach 60 FPS, gameplay remained smooth. We did not encounter noticeable stutters or frame drops during team fights. However, we experienced some FPS drops and stutters on the game’s home screen.

With the highest available settings, Mobile Legends averaged 55 FPS, with a maximum temperature of 39.5°C after 10 minutes of gameplay.

  • FPS Results: 55 FPS average
  • Temperature: from 36.6°C to 39.5°C after 10 minutes of gameplay

League of Legends: Wild Rift

Next, we tested League of Legends: Wild Rift. The vivo V80 Lite had a starting temperature of 37.9°C, and we used custom settings with all available graphics options set to their highest levels.

We encountered some freezes and stutters during the opening sequence. Once inside the Rift, performance was generally good. The game delivered a higher frame rate than Mobile Legends, although we noticed some frame drops during combat. These did not significantly affect gameplay.

Our FPS tracker did not work during this test, so we relied on the game’s built-in FPS counter. With the highest settings, Wild Rift averaged 63 FPS, with a maximum temperature of 41.2°C after 12 minutes of gameplay.

  • FPS Results: 63 FPS average
  • Temperature: from 37.9°C to 41.2°C after 12 minutes of gameplay

Call of Duty: Mobile

Next, we tested Call of Duty: Mobile. The vivo V80 Lite had a starting temperature of 38.3°C, and we set the graphics to Very High with the maximum available frame rate.

Gameplay was smooth, with no significant frame drops or stutters throughout the session. Aiming and performing quick movements also felt responsive. However, the device became warmer compared to the first two games. Despite this, it handled Call of Duty: Mobile reasonably well.

With Very High graphics and the maximum frame rate, Call of Duty: Mobile averaged 46 FPS, with a maximum temperature of 42.7°C after 10 minutes of gameplay.

  • FPS Results: 46 FPS average
  • Temperature: from 38.3°C to 42.7°C after 10 minutes of gameplay

Asphalt Legends

We then tested Asphalt Legends. The vivo V80 Lite had a starting temperature of 36.2°C, and we selected the High graphics preset with the frame rate set to 60 FPS.

Performance was good throughout the race, with no noticeable stutters or frame drops.

With the High preset and 60 FPS setting, Asphalt Legends averaged 51 FPS, with a maximum temperature of 42.7°C after 10 minutes of gameplay.

  • FPS Results: 51 FPS average
  • Temperature: from 36.2°C to 42.7°C after 10 minutes of gameplay

Zenless Zone Zero

Moving on to more graphically demanding games, we tested Zenless Zone Zero. The vivo V80 Lite had a starting temperature of 37.9°C, and we used the Low graphics preset with the frame rate set to 60 FPS.

Loading times were slow, and the game experienced frequent stutters and frame drops as soon as it started. Our FPS tracker also kept crashing, while combat was nearly impossible to play smoothly.

Even with the Low preset and 60 FPS setting, Zenless Zone Zero was unplayable on the vivo V80 Lite.

  • FPS Results: No reliable FPS results due to frequent stutters and tracker crashes
  • Temperature: Not recorded

Genshin Impact

Next, we tested Genshin Impact. The vivo V80 Lite had a starting temperature of 36.9°C, and we used the Low graphics preset with the frame rate set to 60 FPS.

We played through the Spiral Abyss and were surprised by the results. The game ran reasonably well, with only a few frame drops and no major stutters that disrupted gameplay. Switching characters and activating Elemental Bursts also worked without significant issues.

Compared to Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact delivered a much better experience on the device.

With the Low preset and 60 FPS setting, Genshin Impact averaged 40 FPS, with a maximum temperature of 40.4°C after 8 minutes of gameplay.

  • FPS Results: 40 FPS average
  • Temperature: from 36.9°C to 40.4°C after 8 minutes of gameplay

Honkai Impact 3rd

Lastly, we tested Honkai Impact 3rd. The vivo V80 Lite had a starting temperature of 36.4°C, and we used the lowest graphics settings with the frame rate set to 60 FPS.

Loading times were slightly faster than those of Zenless Zone Zero. However, gameplay was still unplayable due to frequent frame drops and stutters. We also noticed issues with assets loading properly when switching characters or activating Ultimate skills.

Even with the lowest settings, the vivo V80 Lite struggled to run Honkai Impact 3rd smoothly.

  • FPS Results: No reliable FPS results recorded
  • Temperature: Not recorded

Verdict

Overall, the vivo V80 Lite is not a good choice for demanding mobile games. It handled Mobile Legends, Wild Rift, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Asphalt Legends reasonably well, while Genshin Impact remained playable at low settings. However, Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai Impact 3rd were unplayable during our tests.

The device’s chipset limits its ability to handle graphically demanding games, while temperatures reached as high as 42.7°C during testing. Its limited storage capacity may also be a concern for users who install several large games.

If you mainly play Mobile Legends and need a secondary phone, the vivo V80 Lite may be sufficient. However, those who regularly play demanding titles should consider a device with more capable gaming hardware.
