ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 2024 Review

In the world of gaming laptops, the eternal trade-off between power and portability often forces consumers into a difficult decision. However, ASUS aims to find solution for this problem with its latest offering, the ROG Zephyrus G16 2024. In this review, let’s find out the features and performance of this laptop.

Design and Build

Right out of the box, the ROG Zephyrus G16 2024 exudes a sense of premium craftsmanship. Constructed with an aluminum unibody case, it strikes a balance between durability and aesthetics. Despite its formidable hardware, the Zephyrus G16 maintains a slim profile, making it an understated presence in any setting.

The addition of customizable Slash lighting, which consists of 28 mini LEDs programmable via the Armory Crate, adds a touch of flair without overwhelming the laptop’s design. Moreover, weighing in at a mere 1.95kg, it offers excellent portability without compromising on performance.

The lid of the ROG Zephyrus G16 is notably flexible, enabling easy one-handed opening. However, due to the new hinge design, the lid can only be opened to a maximum angle of 135 degrees.

Opening the lid reveals a spacious keyboard flanked by two sizeable speakers, accompanied by a responsive trackpad. While the keyboard lacks a numpad, its tactile feedback and ergonomic layout ensure comfortable typing for extended periods. Although primarily geared towards productivity, the keyboard holds its own for casual gaming sessions.

The ROG Zephyrus G16 2024 features a well-rounded selection of ports, catering to various connectivity needs. From HDMI 2.1 to USB-C 4.0 with Thunderbolt 4 support, users have ample options for peripheral devices and external displays. The inclusion of an SD Card reader further enhances its utility, particularly for content creators requiring swift file transfers.

Display

At the heart of the Zephyrus G16 lies its stunning 16-inch OLED panel, boasting a remarkable 240Hz refresh rate and G-Sync compatibility. From vibrant colors to crisp details, the display delivers an immersive visual experience ideal for both gaming and multimedia consumption. With HDR support enhancing contrast and brightness, every frame comes to life with unparalleled clarity.

We watched a bunch of videos on this laptop and played some games and so far the display never disappoints.

Performance

Powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor and an RTX 4080 GPU, the Zephyrus G16 handles demanding tasks with ease. Whether gaming or multitasking, its 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM ensures seamless performance, complemented by a spacious 2TB NVME SSD for ample storage.

When engaging in gameplay sessions, such as with “The Finals,” we experienced no issues whatsoever. We consistently maintained a stable frames-per-second (FPS) rate even when operating at the highest graphical settings.

Battery

Equipped with a 90-watt-hour battery, the Zephyrus G16 offers respectable battery life, considering its gaming-centric nature. However, continuous operation at 240Hz refresh rate mode may lead to shorter runtime, necessitating frequent charging.

Fortunately, the inclusion of two power bricks—one USB-C and one rectangular DC in charger—facilitates flexible charging options.

We recommend opting for the USB-C charging brick due to its compact size, making it more convenient for portability compared to its counterpart. When it comes to charging the laptop, it took us approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes to fully replenish the battery, even while actively using the device.

Price

While the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 2024 commands a premium price tag, its exceptional hardware and performance justify the investment. Whether you’re a dedicated gamer or a content creator seeking versatility, this laptop delivers on all fronts. For those in search of a top-tier, all-encompassing solution, the Zephyrus G16 stands as a compelling choice.

The base model of the ROG Zephyrus G16 2024 starts at PHP179,995, featuring an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor paired with an RTX 4070 GPU.

Alternatively, the variant we tested, equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, an RTX 4080 GPU, 32GB of RAM, and a 2TB NVME SSD, is priced at exactly PHP249,995.

In summary, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 2024 sets a new standard for gaming laptops, blending power, portability, and premium design into a single package.
