Mobile games are for “filthy casuals”

Well, pardon me for my language, but this is how the majority of gamers call its players. I can’t wholeheartedly agree with this, since we all are open to like a particular thing or not and shouldn’t hate people for liking something we don’t, but I do see the point.

Some mobile games are rather lacking specific gameplay and would usually just be a one-way interaction game. Meaning, there is only one mechanic that the player usually needs to know and the game is as it is. I can see why gamers make this one of their biggest reasons since there are some mobile games out there that are well.. lacking in gameplay, however, they’re still good mobile games that have complex gameplay and even a good storyline. It just takes a while to find one.

Controls can be a little clunky

Well, I gotta have to agree with this one. Some mobile games are indeed rather clunky, in terms of control. Particular mobile games like action games or would require you to have a joystick like a thing on your keypad is really bad at times. Touchscreen, I guess isn’t build to respond that fast, which can get things rather difficult when playing this types of action-RPG games.

Movement is key in games, and if you can’t accurately move your character then you’ll have a hard time playing the game, making people abandon the particular game. That’s why controls should be of top priority by gaming app developers, to make gaming experience as smooth as it is.

Some consider the “mainstream” games rather basic

Some hardcore gamers put a lot of hate and I mean “HATE” on well-known mobile games for one particular reason, they’re way too basic. This reason ties up with why they call mobile gamers “casuals” and how basic gameplay would be something they enjoy.

Particular examples are well-known games like Clash of Clans, wherein building mechanics can be easily understood by a simple player. I don’t necessary agree on this reason as a whole since these types of games rely on their simplicity in mechanics to gain a lot of players. Take note, not everyone has the understanding of a “gamer”, we can’t all understand hard mechanics and gameplay, so games with simple mechanics are often times the go to games by the majority.

Pay-to-win micro transactions

Okay, I have to agree with this one. The majority of mobile games are rather focused on pay-to-win scenarios. The majority of these require you, the player to spend real-life money for virtual services or currency. Something that a lot of game developing companies for the smartphone are quite notorious at.

However, take note that this type of micro transaction deals can’t only be found on mobile games. They’re also present in various modern day PC and console games, which is something that I never liked. Micro transaction or not, mobile games are still one of the most notorious industries that rule on these particular deals.

Some games are just for marketing gimmicks

I’ve encountered a lot of games that are movie-based or person-based, which actually makes me cringe a lot. To be honest, having your own game, starring you, feels rather a narcissistic in any way you look at this situation. This types of games are sometimes simple and easy to play, but lacks the depths of a game. It’s a particular marketing gimmick for people to promote random people or movie, which is rather sad, but incredibly bright.

Too many Pop-up ads

Hands down, one of the most annoying yet true reason why gamers or people in majority hate playing mobile games is because of the ads. Ad interruptions often time ruin a great game for you and would eventually sway you away of a great game. Some ads are required for a player to click while some can be rather sneaky and can pop up out of nowhere.
