With the recent launch of the Infinix Note 40 Pro+ 5G and Note 40 5G, Infinix also introduced their latest gaming-centric device, the Infinix GT 20 Pro. Priced under 20 thousand pesos, this smartphone boasts an array of impressive features. Today, we’ll focus on its gaming performance.
The Infinix GT 20 Pro runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset, built on a 4nm architecture. Designed with a gaming-centric look, it features capable hardware that delivers decent gaming results despite its slightly older chipset.
For its price range, its specifications are quite impressive: a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Additionally, it supports RAM expansion up to another 12GB, totaling 24GB, which might be considered overkill for a smartphone. The GT 20 Pro also includes a triple camera setup highlighted by a 108MP main shooter.
Before diving into gaming tests, let’s review some benchmark results.
Starting with Mobile Legends, the graphics were set to the highest available settings (ultra). Throughout our playthrough, the device maintained a consistent 60FPS without any performance issues, even during intense team fights. Notably, the phone remained cool even after extended gaming sessions.
Next, we tested Call of Duty Mobile, which defaulted to High graphics quality with very high frame rates. Both settings—High and Ultra frame rates—provided smooth performance without stutters, although the device did warm up slightly after several games.
Moving to more demanding games, we tried Honkai Star Rail, initially set at high settings with 30 FPS, which we adjusted to 60FPS. During an autoplay, occasional frame drops occurred during map switches and loading, but combat remained smooth with no noticeable stutters. However, after prolonged gaming, such as 12 autoruns on Crimson Calyx, the device warmed up, affecting performance slightly.
Testing Wuthering Waves on medium settings at 60FPS, we observed occasional frame drops during active gameplay like dodging and parrying. Despite the device warming up after about 20 minutes of play, performance remained acceptable and did not significantly impact gameplay.
Finally, in Genshin Impact, set initially at medium settings with 30FPS, we increased FPS to 60. The device handled gameplay well, exhibiting smooth performance with no frame drops during combat or when executing multiple ultimate animations. While navigating the open world, minor frame drops were noticed, and similar to previous tests, the device warmed up over time.
Overall, priced at PHP15,999, the Infinix GT 20 Pro impressively handled all tested games. It excelled in esports titles without any noticeable struggles and managed to run Genshin Impact smoothly at medium settings with 60FPS, a notable feat given its price point. This makes it a top contender among budget gaming smartphones. If you’re looking for a gaming-centric smartphone on a budget, consider adding the Infinix GT 20 Pro to your list.
