We’re back with another exciting comparison! In this article, we’re diving into a showdown between vivo’s latest vivo V40 5G and the HONOR 200.
Both smartphones come in under PHP30,000 and share the same chipset, but what sets them apart? Let’s explore their differences and see which device might be the better choice for you.
Design and Build
When it comes to design, both the vivo V40 and HONOR 200 present a premium aesthetic. The V40 features a Lotus Purple design with a glass body and elegantly curved edges, while the HONOR 200 opts for a Pro Black colorway with a plastic body and a matte finish. While neither phone is particularly flashy, both have a sleek and appealing look.
In terms of dimensions, the vivo V40 is slightly slimmer at 7.6mm thick, compared to the 7.7mm of the HONOR 200.
However, despite being thinner, the V40 weighs 190g, making it a bit heavier than the 187g HONOR 200.
While both phones have curved edges, the thicker frame of the HONOR 200 may offer a better grip, which is crucial for a secure hold, especially considering their smooth textures that can make them a bit slippery.
Ultimately, your choice may depend on whether you prefer a lighter, slimmer device or one that feels sturdier in hand.
If durability is a key concern, the vivo V40 boasts an IP68 rating, making it more resistant to dust and water than the HONOR 200.
Display
How about we do some display comparison? The vivo V40 features a larger 6.78-inch display, slightly outpacing the 6.7-inch screen on the HONOR 200.
The V40 also utilizes a superior AMOLED panel, while the HONOR 200 comes with an OLED screen. Both devices offer a 1.5K resolution paired with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth visuals.
The V40’s display further impresses with support for HDR10+ and a peak brightness of 4500 nits, surpassing the 4000 nits of the HONOR 200.
Additionally, the V40 includes a Schott Xensation Alpha glass for added protection, a feature absent in the HONOR 200. Both displays excel in terms of color accuracy and vibrancy, making them suitable for both entertainment and productivity tasks.
Camera
In the camera department, the vivo V40 comes equipped with a dual camera setup, a 50MP main lens with OIS and a 50MP ultrawide lens.
In contrast, the HONOR 200 boasts a triple camera system, featuring a 50MP main lens with OIS, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide lens. Both devices share a 50MP front-facing camera.
When it comes to image quality, the vivo V40 tends to produce natural and vibrant photos, while the HONOR 200 delivers sharper images.
Both phones excel in outdoor photography, offering impressive detail, color accuracy, and a wide dynamic range. The HONOR 200 is particularly effective at producing deep blacks and shadows in its shots.
vivo V40 5G and HONOR 200 Rear Camera Sample Shots
For selfies, while both devices capture decent images, the HONOR 200 leans towards a more natural look with sharper details, whereas the V40 excels in producing high-quality selfies, even if they lack some of the finer details.
vivo V40 5G and HONOR 200 Selfie Camera Sample Shots
Both phones can record videos up to 4K@30FPS, making them versatile options for capturing your moments. If camera performance is your main criteria, the HONOR 200 has the edge with its additional telephoto lens, but the V40’s Aura Light Portrait System enhances its low-light performance and portrait capabilities, making it an appealing choice for those who enjoy creative photography.
Performance
Performance-wise, both smartphones are powered by the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset.
They both feature 12GB of RAM with the HONOR 200 offering a larger 512GB storage option, compared to the 256GB in the V40.
Both devices run on Android 14, with the V40 using Funtouch 14 and the HONOR 200 employing MagicOS 8.
In comparison, benchmarks results are quite similar. Take a look at the photos below.
vivo V40 5G and HONOR 200 Benchmark Results
Battery
In battery comparison, the vivo V40 houses a 5500mAh Lithium-Ion battery, while the HONOR 200 is equipped with a 5200mAh Silicon-Carbon battery.
The HONOR 200 supports 100W fast charging, while the V40 offers 80W.
During our video loop test, the V40 lasted about 21 hours and 51 minutes, while the HONOR 200 provided approximately 19 hours and 15 minutes of usage.
When charging from 0 to 100%, the V40 took around 48 minutes, whereas the HONOR 200 completed the task in 42 minutes.
Although Silicon-Carbon batteries show potential for improvement over conventional Lithium-Ion batteries, their long-term reliability remains uncertain. If you’re looking for a larger battery capacity and proven performance, the V40 is the safer bet.
Price Comparison
The HONOR 200 is priced at PHP24,999 for the 12GB + 512GB storage model, while the vivo V40 is available in two variants, with the model we reviewed priced at PHP26,999.

In this comparison, both smartphones share similar specifications, they each have unique features that cater to different user preferences.
The HONOR 200 may be the better option for those seeking a more versatile camera setup and larger storage at a slightly lower price.
However, if you prioritize display quality, battery life, and features like the Aura Light Portrait System, the vivo V40 stands out as a solid choice.

View Detail >>Leaks about the upcoming iPhone SE 4 have already surfaced online, revealing new features for Apple’s SE variant.
iPhone SE 4 leaks!
According to 9to5Mac, the next generation iPhone SE will have a new design similar to an iPhone 14, unlike its previous design that is similar to an iPhone 8. It will now feature a flat side and a 6.1-inch OLED panel with 1170 x 2532 resolution.
With the new design changes, the iconic Home Button with Touch ID will be removed and will be replaced by Face ID through the notch.
Meanwhile, for its chip, the iPhone SE 4 is rumored to be powered by the latest 3nm A18 processor with 8GB RAM and a 5-core GPU. This means that it might be possible for the upcoming iPhone SE 4 to support the new Apple Intelligence and its features.
For optics, the new SE is expected to come with a larger sensor, a 48MP wide camera and a 12MP front camera similar to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. However, it may only have a wide sensor, and Apple will ditch a secondary camera at the back, but the main camera will come with 2x optical zoom.
Apple will be also using its own 5G modem instead of Qualcomm’s modem to the new iPhone SE. It will be the first iPhone to integrate the said modem. Apple’s modem is said to significantly lowers battery usage, particularly when consumers turn on Low Power Mode on the iPhone.
Lastly, leaks have also suggested that it will pack the same battery as the iPhone 14 but more power efficient because of the 3nm chip.
The device is expected to arrive in spring 2025, probably around March next year.
Apple has yet to reveal official information about the upcoming iPhone SE 4, so stay tuned for more updates.
