Today, we have a new affordable device from HONOR, the HONOR X6e. We used the device as our daily driver, and here’s what we think about it.
First, let’s talk about the design. The overall look of the HONOR X6e is not far from its predecessor. Personally, I think it looks nice. It is not particularly flashy, but it does have a premium-looking design.
The phone weighs around 207 grams, which makes it relatively heavy. However, it feels fairly lightweight in the hand since both the rear panel and frame are made of plastic.
While it looks premium, it doesn’t necessarily feel premium. Still, one of its strengths is that the phone looks more expensive than it actually is.
Now, let’s flip over the device and talk about the display. The HONOR X6e features a 6.61-inch TFT LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,010 nits of peak brightness.
Unfortunately, the display only has an HD+ resolution, which is a bit of a letdown. It may be difficult for the HONOR X6e to stand out in this segment, especially with several competitors offering higher-resolution displays.
In terms of overall quality, the display is decent enough for multimedia consumption. The colors are not particularly sharp or vibrant, but they are good enough for my daily needs. I also barely encountered any slowdowns or stutters when navigating through the display.
Moving on to performance, the HONOR X6e is powered by a MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra. Our review unit comes with 4GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
It has been a while since I last used a device with only 4GB of RAM. In terms of everyday performance, the HONOR X6e is capable enough for light tasks, social media browsing, and entertainment. However, there are noticeable slowdowns when doing heavy multitasking. If your workload is relatively light, though, this shouldn’t be a major issue.
For gaming, we tried playing Genshin Impact, and the phone delivered decent performance. There were noticeable frame drops, but they were not drastic enough to make the game unplayable.

As for battery performance, the HONOR X6e is equipped with a large 7,500mAh battery paired with 45W wired charging.
To test its battery consumption, we installed Genshin Impact and downloaded all of its assets, including the shaders. The process took around two hours, during which the device consumed approximately 10% of battery per hour.
For power users, you can expect around 7 to 10 hours of screen-on time depending on your usage. For more casual users, however, the battery can easily last a couple of days.
With the performance out of the way, let’s talk about the camera department. The HONOR X6e sports a 50MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.
It has been raining for the past couple of days, so I didn’t have the opportunity to do any outdoor shoots. However, I was still able to take several photos using both cameras.

In terms of image quality, the rear camera produces photos that are not particularly vibrant or sharp. However, the images still retain a decent amount of detail. The HDR processing is generally good, although it can be somewhat inconsistent when dealing with highlights.

As for low-light performance, the processing is fairly quick after pressing the shutter. However, the resulting images tend to look soft and grainy, so the overall results are not particularly impressive.

The same goes for the front-facing camera. Selfies tend to look soft and somewhat unnatural, particularly when it comes to skin tones and overall image processing.
Video Recording
Both the front and rear cameras can record video at up to 1080p at 30fps.
Finally, let’s talk about pricing. The HONOR X6e is priced at PHP 15,999 for the 4GB + 256GB configuration.
Overall, the HONOR X6e is not trying to be the most feature-packed phone in its price range. Instead, it focuses on providing the essentials at an affordable price.
It offers a premium-looking design, a large battery, and decent everyday performance. However, it is not the best option if gaming and heavy multitasking are your priorities, especially with its 4GB of RAM and HD+ display.
But if you’re looking for a reliable secondary device for everyday tasks, social media, entertainment, and general use, the HONOR X6e is still worth considering.
