Be ready for PlayStation 5 owners! There will be major software updates coming for the console. This will showcase new features, especially the highly requested USB storage support.
This feature allows users of the gaming console to transfer their games from the PS5 to a connected USB storage device. The drive will act as archival storage for your games and you won’t be able to play straight from the device. This would make things faster and easier. Instead of downloading the game, which would take up time, you can just transfer the game from the external device to the PS5.
The feature was already available in PS4 consoles and they can even play the game right from the external drive. This was also possible with PS5 where they can transfer and play PS4 titles directly off the external drives it is just PS5 titles that could not be transferred before this update.
Another major update is the cross-generation Share Play. This allows PS5 owners to invite their PS4 user friends to join in a game. The feature allows the PS4 users to play in your game as you over the cloud. They can also be invited to play along through co-op. You can also just share your screen with them to watch while you play. The first two features need a PlayStation Plus subscription while the last one is free.
There will also be a selection of your friend’s joinable game sessions that appear on PS5 and PS4 consoles, this is easier for the user to find and join in games.
The next update is for the Game Base. Now, it makes switching between friends and parties easy, the ability to adjust other players’ volumes and disable game chat, pre-download updates from games (if the developers enabled it) which makes it ready to play once the patch goes live. You can also limit the automatic screenshots/videos when it comes to trophies to high-value trophies like gold and platinum. There will also be a new player Trophy Stats screen.
The last update will be for the PlayStation App for both iOS and Android users and can be expected within the coming weeks. This update will provide users to join a multiplayer session on PS5 from the app, manage PS5 console storage, compare the trophies you earned from your friends, and sort and filter products offered in the PlayStation Store.
