ABS-CBN Shows and News can still be watched through online

With the denial of ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal, the network is left with only the online channels to broadcast and stream their news and content shows. It’s still uncertain on what’s the workaround for their franchise aside from going back to the Philippine Congress again and have another hearing.

But for some of their shows, there are still hopes. There are three ways on how the ABS-CBN corporation could save a few thousand jobs and serve the mass again.

How to watch ABS-CBN shows and news again if they ever decide to go on one of these options:

Buying block airtime from PLDT’s TV5

The best option and the most economical for the network is to buy several block airtime from Channel 5. They easily insert their primetime shows and news content in between the morning and evening.

Although they cannot fit all shows, it’s still possible to even air the shows from the other channels of the ABS-CBN Network like the ANC news channel or DZMM radio shows.

Another prime reason is that TV5 has nationwide coverage and it will be favorable for ABS-CBN since they have regional channels.

Acquiring another TV or broadcast station

With MVP or Manny V Pangilinan of PLDT giving hint that TV5 is not for sale, ABS-CBN will need to acquire or buy another company with allocated broadcast tv and radio frequencies.

For radio stations, there are several options with nation-wide ready frequencies. It is on the TV frequencies they will have a hard time acquiring as there are very few networks that have nationwide signal reach. But given they have already the towers, ABS-CBN could just upgrade their equipment in order to broadcast their new frequencies.

However, not all networks are for sale, and some are owned by religious institutions that are closed from any takeovers. But a merger is possible in order to lessen the process of acquiring the new network.

Stream on online channels and YouTube

Considering the reach of online in the Philippines is still hampered by inferior telco coverage and network quality, ABS-CBN is likely left with no choice but to stream their shows through the internet.

They have impressive stats and millions of views on YouTube and Facebook when they debuted last March when NTC released the cease and desist order. However, their recent releases do not have the expected number of viewers much more they don’t have advertisements on these videos aside from streaming revenues.

It’s also hard for the network to stream their other shows in other regions and reach the older demographics of the Philippine audience since there are only a few millions of smartphone users who have a stable and fast data connections.

Still, it’s the only current left option for the network as of the moment. Hopefully, they could find some better solutions to operate and broadcast their shows again.
