Google took things even more seriously this year, unveiling the new Google Pixel 7 Pro. While Big G released its first flagship last year after a long period of not doing so, the new flagship this year is even more spectacular and keeps relatively inexpensive pricing when compared to flagships from other companies, but being a top-tier phone. But, at that price, can it truly compete with the iPhone 14 Pro? Is it worth paying extra for Apple’s flagship if you can save a lot of money by buying the Pixel and still receive a high-quality product? This is a comparison of the major specs of the iPhone 14 Pro and the Google Pixel 7 Pro that should help you decide. With the exception of the size, display diagonal, and battery capacity, which is larger on the Pro Max edition, the thoughts in this comparison are also applicable to the iPhone 14 Pro.

Design

Which style do you prefer? It’s basically a question of preference. For various reasons, I prefer the iPhone 14 Pro. First and foremost, because of the smaller display, it is much more compact. Furthermore, it is made of higher-quality materials, such as glass for the back, which is covered by Ceramic Shield, and stainless steel for the frame. It also has improved water resistance, with IP68 certification allowing you to submerge it up to 6 meters deep. It also has the famed Dynamic Island, which isn’t for everyone but is a highly futuristic element. The Google Pixel 7 Pro, on the other hand, has a highly unique design that includes a horizontal bar for the back cameras made of recyclable material. It has a glass back and an aluminum frame, and it is waterproof with IP68 certification, allowing you to submerge it up to 1.5 meters deep for up to 30 minutes.

Display

This is a tough battle because both phones have fantastic flagship-class screens. I would largely select based on the display diagonal: the iPhone 14 Pro has a small 6.1-inch panel, but the Google Pixel 7 Pro has a large 6.7-inch panel: if you want a new phone for productivity, the latter is a superior choice in terms of display. In terms of display, both are excellent, albeit the iPhone 14 Pro should be somewhat superior. The Pixel has an AMOLED panel with a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels, LTPO technology for an adjustable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120 Hz, HDR10+ certification, an in-display fingerprint reader, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The iPhone 14 Pro features a Super Retina XDR OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1179 x 2556 pixels, an adjustable refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz, HDR10 certification, Dolby Vision compatibility, and Ceramic Shield protection. There are hardware sensors for Face ID, or 3D face recognition, on Dynamic Island.

Camera

The Google Pixel 7 Pro is the finest photography phone ever, according to DxOMark experts. A 50 MP primary sensor with OIS and laser autofocus, a 48 MP telephoto camera with OIS and 5x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide sensor comprise the triple rear camera. The iPhone 14 Pro isn’t the finest camera ever, but it’s still at the top of the list thanks to its 48 MP primary camera and two 12 MP sensors for zoom and ultrawide pictures.

Specs & Performance

The iPhone 14 Pro’s hardware is more convincing when combined with the incredible optimization of the iOS operating system. It is powered on the Apple A16 Bionic, which is developed on a 4 nm manufacturing process and features a hexa-core architecture with two Blizzard performance cores running at 3.46 GHz, four Sawtooth energy cores running at 2.02 GHz, and a 5-core proprietary GPU. The SoC is accompanied by 6 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage. The Google Pixel 7 Pro ships with Android 13 and is powered by the Google Tensor G2 mobile platform. It is a 5 nm chipset featuring two Cortex X1 CPUs operating at a maximum frequency of 2.85 GHz, two Cortex A78 CPUs running at 2.35 GHz, four Cortex A55 CPUs running at 1.8 GHz, and a Mali G710 MC10. The chipset is accompanied by 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 native storage.

Battery

The Google Pixel 7 Pro has a far larger battery than the iPhone 14 Pro Max: if you want comparable battery life from an Apple handset, go with the Pro Max.

Price & Availability

In Europe, the iPhone 14 Pro starts at Php70,990 (prices vary based on the market), but the Google Pixel 7 Pro costs only €899 or $899 (around Php52,699). Which one would you choose?
