Top 3 Features of OPPO Reno4 versus Reno3

At this point in time, we all know that OPPO is going to launch Reno4 in the Philippines. As per usual, we now have the device to provide you a glimpse of what the company’s newest mid-range phone has to offer. Roughly four months after the release of Reno3 globally, Reno4 quickly follows suit with significant upgrades and changes. With Reno3 still available on the market, its successor gets promoted as the perfect tool to unleash your creativity in content creation. Aside from outstanding performance and superior quality cameras, the trendy design in black and blue colors should also make you want this phone even more. But compared to the Reno3, what exactly are we looking for.

1. 32MP Selfie Camera in a Pill-Shaped Cutout

The 44MP selfie camera is easily the highlight of Reno3. On paper, the 32MP selfie camera on the Reno4 may seem like a downgrade. However, the number of MP is, more often than not, just a part of the overall quality of a photo or video. And frankly speaking, 32MP is still a huge number for a selfie cam. But what’s clearly an upgrade here is that, instead of a notch, it’s housed in a pill-shaped cutout. It also means there’s another lens for a dual-selfie experience. We like what OPPO did here. Thanks to the slimmer cutout, it doesn’t cut too much of the content and easily fades in the background after a few minutes of use.

2. 48MP AI Quad-Cameras with New Camera Modes

Reno4 still uses 48MP quad-cameras for its rear but, the aperture opening is now wider at f/1.7 versus f/1.8. In other words, it should take brighter low-light shots than its predecessor. And with the dedicated Night Mode in tow, we won’t be surprised to see night vision-like cameras here. Furthermore, Night Flair Mode gets added to let you apply neon effects against the backdrop. In addition, AI Portrait Mode is present as well. Though we know that Reno3 is capable of the said mode, Reno4 takes it a notch further. Thanks to AI, it can isolate the subject by keeping the background in blur and monochrome. Above all that, 960 Smart Slow Motion debuts for that ultra slo-mo effect, unlocking your inner creativity with a single press of a button. To make it easier to use, the camera automatically detects the movement of the subject, then applies the slow-mo feature.

3. Trendier Design

Much like Reno3, Reno4 comes in blue and black colors as well. But due to the increasing minimal-looking phones out there, it now has a subtle gradient fade that also offers a bit of sophistication. Regardless of your #OOTD, the device can match your style, whether it’s casual or formal attire. Call it weird, but big camera hump is also a trend now.

While the blue color can easily capture someone’s eyes. The black model will make you look twice, literally. At the bottom-most part, you’ll see subtle patterns flowing over to the sides, and glowing depending on how the light hits it. It’s really subtle, but it’s a nice touch.

Overall, the taller yet slimmer profile is a happy combination for our hands. It’s not too big to grasp the phone with one hand, and it’s not heavy, considering the features it packs inside.

Expect our hands-on, unboxing, review, and comparison coverage very soon, as we put the Reno4 into the test.
