Apple Reportedly Developing iPhone Game Controllers

Apple is reportedly developing two game controllers for the iPhone, with the accessories expected to be sold under the Beats brand.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Beats executives are leading the project.

Rumors of Apple developing game controllers have circulated for some time, while MacRumors recently found references to two first-party game controllers in the code of macOS 26.7.

Although the references were found in macOS, Gurman says the controllers are being developed for iPhone.

The exact design and features remain unknown, so it is unclear whether they will be similar to third-party phone-mounted controllers such as the Backbone One.

Backbone One Mobile Gaming Controller

The Backbone One is made by Backbone, a separate company, and is not an Apple product.

Apple has supported the controller as an iPhone gaming accessory, but the rumored Beats controllers would reportedly be Apple’s own products.

Apple has not officially announced the controllers or confirmed their release plans.
