Testing the vivo V70 FE in Real Conditions

Since we’ve already talked about the vivo V70 FE’s cameras and published a full review of the device, we know some of you are looking for real-life performance experience.

We do understand that others may not be into cameras and instead prioritize performance when choosing a new smartphone. Others might be into gaming and want to make sure the device can keep up during long sessions, hence the title.

The question is: Does the vivo V70 FE check all the boxes you’re looking for? Here’s our performance test of the vivo V70 FE.

7000mAh BlueVolt Battery and 90W FlashCharge

Using the vivo V70 FE in real life, its 7000mAh BlueVolt battery delivered a good overall experience. Here are some of the things I did while testing the device.

A lot of Filipinos enjoy consuming short-form videos on apps like Facebook or Instagram Reels and TikTok, so that was the first thing I tested to check the device’s battery performance.

When I used TikTok and Facebook Reels, I had around 20% battery. After about 57 minutes of use (starting at 4:23 PM), it dropped by 10% by 5:20 PM.

For media consumption, watching a full movie reduced the battery from 100% to 90%. The movie lasted around two hours, and the volume wasn’t fixed at 50%, at times, I increased it up to 200%, especially during scenes I wanted to replay and hear more clearly.

Podcast streaming was also efficient, with the battery going from 90% down to 75% after nearly four hours. This is something I appreciate, as I often listen to podcasts while doing other tasks.

Meanwhile, one hour of puzzle gaming consumed only about 5%, dropping from 75% to 70%.

Overnight, idle drain was minimal, with the battery going from 65% to 63%. For context, the apps installed on the phone included Call of Duty Mobile, Mobile Legends, social media apps, YouTube, and other puzzle games.

For gaming, I started playing Call of Duty at 62% (12:11 PM). The battery dropped to 56% by 12:45 PM, 51% by 1:28 PM, and 48% by 1:58 PM, showing steady but manageable drain under load.

Some of you might be wondering why TikTok drains around 10% battery in just one hour of scrolling. This is likely because it constantly preloads the next videos and keeps the CPU active. Scrolling, tapping, liking, and replaying also add to the load.

Now, one of the standout features is the “Battery Life Extender.” We discovered that even when the battery is nearly depleted, and you need to charge, users can still make emergency calls. This is a useful addition, especially in urgent situations, as the phone remains functional even at critically low battery levels.

Speaking of charging, going from 0 to 100% took approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes.

Considering all these tests, the vivo V70 FE offers reliable all-day battery performance, along with practical power-saving features for emergencies.

IP68 & IP69 Dust and Water Resistance

Second, let’s talk about durability. On paper, the vivo V70 FE looks solid, as it offers IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance. This means the device is dustproof and can survive water submersion, with added resistance to high-pressure and water jets.

In real-life use, I purposely spilled water on the device while it was on the table. After wiping it down, it worked perfectly fine, just like nothing happened.

Since the device has this level of protection, it should also be usable in the rain. However, since it’s summer, I wasn’t able to test it in actual rainfall. Instead, I improvised using a sprinkler can. With water droplets hitting the screen, the phone remained usable, and I was even able to take photos under this “artificial rain.”

There were a few moments when the screen became unresponsive, likely because it got too wet. But after wiping it dry, it went back to normal.

Additionally, we also submerged the device in water, and we were still able to use it during our hands-on testing despite these multiple exposure tests.

Aside from the IP rating, the device also has SGS Five-Star Drop Resistance and is advertised with military-grade shock resistance. While these features do help in protecting the phone from accidental drops, they are not a guarantee that the device won’t break. Still, they provide added peace of mind for everyday use.

Gaming Experience

To further talk about my gaming experience with the vivo V70 FE, as mentioned earlier, I played Call of Duty Mobile for about an hour.

I did enjoy gaming with the device. Although I am not much of a gaming enthusiast, I still had a good experience because there were no lags or delays when pressing buttons. The touch response was smooth and consistent.

There are also several gaming features that I discovered during use.

One is the game sound effects feature called “Super Range,” which enhances in-game audio and makes sounds louder during gameplay. The vivo V70 FE already supports up to 200% maximum volume, and in my opinion, using Super Range on top of that can be extremely loud. However, for competitive games like PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile, where footsteps and directional audio are important, I can understand why some users would enable it.

There is also a feature called Mistouch Prevention. I enabled it during gameplay, but I did not notice any major changes in my experience. However, I believe this could still be useful for beginners or players with sweaty hands, as it may help reduce accidental touches.

One of the features I appreciated most was the ability to block notifications during gaming and automatically reject calls. In competitive or ranked matches, notifications can be distracting, and sometimes we forget to turn on Do Not Disturb. Having a built-in gaming mode that handles this automatically is very helpful.

There is also a brightness lock and orientation lock feature. I did not notice much difference with the brightness lock since I was playing indoors, but it could be useful when gaming outdoors. As for orientation lock, I was initially confused after finishing a session because I kept swiping from the sides, but the navigation buttons remained fixed at the bottom. This may be due to the orientation lock setting being enabled.

Overall, these features help improve the gaming experience by preventing accidental inputs and maintaining focus during gameplay. The device also includes an esports mode, which claims to deliver ultimate performance, as well as a voice changer feature, which adds a bit of fun to gaming sessions.

OriginOS 6 and Overall Device Experience

On paper, the vivo V70 FE runs on OriginOS 6 and is promised to deliver up to five years of performance, along with six years of security updates.

As for our overall experience, we used the device for photo taking and camera tests outdoors from 9 AM to 10 AM. I was taking continuous shots, and I did not feel any noticeable delay in the shutter response. Even when I kept pressing the shutter, there was no apparent lag in my experience.

However, since I was using it under direct sunlight, I did notice that the device became slightly warm. Considering the weather conditions at that time, and the phone dissipating heat into the surrounding air, I understand that the phone may have been working harder to manage heat. Fortunately, the temperature subsided quickly after I finished taking photos.

It is also worth noting that I was using the phone as my personal hotspot during the same period, with mobile data enabled throughout, while also capturing photos.

From a different perspective, particularly in gaming, I did not experience any noticeable heat while using the vivo V70 FE. I played for around 1-2 hours continuously, and there were no lags or thermal issues during that time.

Overall, the heating we experienced during camera use was likely due to direct sunlight and heavier simultaneous usage rather than normal operation.

Verdict

After spending time with the vivo V70 FE in real-life scenarios, we can say that it’s a well-rounded device. It’s a good phone for users who prioritize battery life, durability, and day-to-day reliability.

Battery life is one of its strongest highlights. The 7000mAh BlueVolt battery capacity supports all-day use, from social media scrolling and video streaming to gaming and standby time.

As for thermals, minor warmth under direct sunlight and heavy usage is expected, but it quickly stabilizes and does not affect overall usability.

Overall, the vivo V70 FE checks most of the boxes for users looking for a dependable smartphone with strong battery life and consistent everyday performance.
