SSS Begins Calamity Aid for Paeng-Affected Members, Pensioners

SSS Begins Calamity Aid for Paeng-Affected Members,

The Paeng-hit members’ and pensioners’ financial aid program started on November 17, 2022 and will run until February 16, 2023.

In a statement, SSS president and CEO Michael Regino said that the SSS Calamity Assistance Package includes the Calamity Loan Assistance Program (CLAP) for its members and the Three-Month Advance Pension for SSS and Employees’ Compensation (EC) pensioners.

The head of the SSS said that members and pensioners in areas where the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) or the Sangguniang Bayan, Panglungsod, or Panlalawigan will declare to be in a state of calamity could get the money.

Provinces under a state of calamity are:

  • Cavite
  • Laguna
  • Batangas
  • Rizal
  • Quezon
  • Albay
  • Camarines Norte
  • Camarines Sur
  • Sorsogon
  • Catanduanes
  • Masbate
  • Aklan
  • Antique
  • Capiz
  • Guimaras
  • Iloilo
  • Negros Occidental
  • Basilan
  • Lanao del Sur
  • Tawi-Tawi
  • Sulu
  • Maguindanao del Norte,Maguindanao del Sur.

Amulung, Enrile, and Tuguegarao are among the towns in Cagayan that are calamitous. Mogpog, Santa Cruz, and Buenavista are these places in Marinduque, and Pigcawayan, Libungan, and Midsayap are in Cotabato. Muntinlupa City, Calbayog in Samar, Sirawai in Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga City in Zamboanga del Sur are also under a state of calamity.

Under the CLAP, qualified members in Paeng-affected areas can borrow up to their one-month salary credit or P20,000, whichever is less.

The loan is due in two years, or 24 equal monthly payments and the interest rate is 10% per year.

In the same way, the SSS will give money to SSS and EC pensioners in areas hit by typhoons.

The SSS chief reminded members and pensioners in areas hit by Super Typhoon Karding that they still have until January 6, 2023, to use the CLAP and Three-Month Advance Pension for those hit by the super typhoon.
