A new autonomous ride Service, RoboRide, has recently been introduced by Hyundai in the Gangnam district of Seoul. As we mentioned, Hyundai Ioniq 5 is at the Center of deployment, and there is a safety driver on board for the time being.

A single Ioniq 5 autonomous vehicle can carry up to three passengers. Currently, it is only available in Gangnam, Korea, and Seoul Mayor Chun Yong-ho and another city official traveled along a route. There is no information yet on when Hyundai will stop using a safety driver in the RoboRide in Korea. But as a start, the Hyundai-powered RoboRide Service in Korea will only be available to Hyundai employees.

You might be wondering how this can be accessed? Well, an App called i.M, similar to that used by Waymo or Cruise, is utilized. Jin Mobility developed the i.M App, which will heavily rely on artificial intelligence- based on Hyundai’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (A.D.A.S.). This RoboRide Service will run in Korea for an unknown period. As the Company continues incorporating autonomous driving technology, this milestone represents a significant inflection point.

So far, RoboRide is available in just one district out of twenty-five in Seoul. Why? Because self-driving cars cannot yet communicate with traffic lights in the other districts. But as we all know, this will be developed soon. that is why several components will be integrated into Hyundai’s production of autonomous vehicles with the help of data gathered from the pilot program.
