Sony aims to up some of their handsets with an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. These devices are known to be stuck in Android 5.0 for quite sometime now, and it looks like Sony was simply playing far seer. This is a good move by Sony, in all aspects which should make owners of the these devices happy for the update.

Owners of Xperia Z3+, Z4 Tablet and other particular 2015 mid-rangers like the Xperia C4 and C5 Ultra, M4 Aqua and M5 will immediately get this update in an unspecified period of time, from their current Android 5.0 Lollipop update. So all is well so far.

Here are the lists of Sony devices that will receive the update jump towards Android 6.0 Marshmallow:

  • Xperia Z3+
  • Xperia Z4 Tablet
  • Xperia C5 Ultra
  • Xperia C4
  • Xperia M4 Aqua
  • Xperia M5

These devices did not undergo updates towards Android 5.1 updates, which was the main concern of these users, though this breakthrough seemingly answers all their questions as to why Sony hasn’t provided any updates yet. The updates are expected to arrive on the end of the year, but this is yet to be a finalized date, wherein Sony would launch the updates, though, assuming these updates will come before the year ends.
