Sony recently launched their 2019 flagship phone — the Sony Xperia 1 featuring a tall 4K OLED display for Php50k price. Should that be too pricey for you, the company also made the Sony Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus official — bringing its 21:9 displays to the midrange market.
Entering 2019, Sony is changing its naming schemes from Xs and As to Xperia 10 and 10 Plus with sizes at 6.0-inch and 6.5-inch, respectively. Both highlights the unusual but interesting 21:9 tall displays with FHD+ IPS LCD panels. Both again have boxy designs with noticeable (but not quite thick) bezels on all sides except for the top portion. Unlocking these tall phones won’t be a problem since the fingerprint scanners are found on the right sided, embedded on the power button.
Starting with the cheapest of the two, the Xperia 10 runs a Snapdragon 630 chipset along with 3GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage via microSD of up to 512GB. As for the cameras, it comes with wide 13MP + 5MP main sensors, capable of up to 4K @ 30fps video recording. Selfies are handled by an 8MP wide lens. Battery comes in at 2870mAh. Also, there’s a headphone jack.
Moving to the bigger sibling, the Xperia 10 Plus upgrades the ram to 4GB and with a better Snapdragon 636 to run. The main camera sports 12MP wide + 8MP telephoto lenses and this time, with a larger 3000mAh to use.
For price and availability, the Xperia 10 is priced at $350 (~Php18,000) while the Xperia 10 Plus is at $430 (~Php22,000). Expect both to go on sale globally starting March 18.
