One of the unique smartphones launched last year was Samsung Galaxy A Quantum. Exclusively sold in South Korea, it’s a smartphone with the world’s first QRNG security chipset or quantum cryptography that generates quantum random numbers for enhanced security. This year, Samsung is launching the follow-up, the Galaxy Quantum 2, for a price of ₩699,600(~₱30,000) in South Korea, with shipping starting on April 23.
The Galaxy Quantum2, which packs the smallest quantum random generator chip in the world, is backed up by Shinhan Bank, Standard Chartered Bank Korea, and T World to support QRNG for banking apps and services.
Outside the specialty chip, the Quantum 2 is a decent phone. It has a large 6.7″ QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate support. At the core of it is Snapdragon 855+, paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The back makes use of 64MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and 5MP depth cameras, while the front houses a 10MP snapper. The 4500mAh battery supports 25W fast charging, and the OS runs on One UI 3.1 based on Android 11.
Other reports suggest the Quantum 2 going global as Samsung Galaxy A82, sans the QRNG chip. However, the announcement date remains to be seen.
