After announcing that Roblox will continue its operations in the Philippines, the company has introduced a new age-based account system for younger users, along with expanded parental controls.
The update introduces two new account types starting in early June:
1. Roblox Kids (ages 5–8):
These accounts will only allow access to games labeled “Minimal” or “Mild.” Communication features will be disabled by default, and the app will show a distinct interface design to indicate the account type.
2. Roblox Select (ages 9–15):
These accounts will have access to games rated up to “Moderate.” Communication settings will remain on by default, and the account will also have a distinct visual design.

Roblox said users will automatically move to different account types as they get older.
Also, users under 16 will only see games that pass its internal review process. Games will be checked based on developer verification, content ratings, and ongoing monitoring of reports and activity.
Meanwhile, users who have not completed age verification will only be allowed to access lower-rated games, and chat features will be turned off.

Roblox also said it will expand parental controls. Parents will be able to block specific games until age 15, manage chat settings for longer, and approve certain games that are not normally allowed by default.
The company added that it will shift to the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) system, which matches regional rating systems like ESRB and PEGI.
Meanwhile, no changes will apply to users aged 16 and above. These changes will be effective starting June 2026.
