I’m sorry to disappoint those who dislike QR codes, but it seems to be one piece of ubiquity tech that will endure. Instagram Quietly Introduced QR Codes for Postings

Through QR codes, Instagram users can now share posts, reels, tags, and locations on the app’s searchable Map experience. Although many people despise the QR code experience that the pandemic forced upon us, there is reason to think that it could be useful in marketing campaigns, as TechCrunch noted.

article 1 2All app users now have the option to share QR codes. To save a QR code to your camera roll, simply select “QR code” from the top right option while you are on any Reel, post, or location. To create a QR code for a post, you can also append “/qr” to the URL in your browser.

article 2 2According to Meta, the firm that owns Instagram, the choice was taken “to make it easier for users and businesses to share specific content.”

article 3 2It’s not entirely new for Instagram to allow users to publish their profiles using QR codes; simply take a look at the stickers that adorn subway vehicles to see this in action. This is the first time you can do that for individual posts, though (it should be noted that the original decision to include QR codes was a very blatant replica of Snapchat at the time. Classic Instagram.)

articlr 4It is simple to identify who would gain from this move. Musicians posting show details, artists selling their creations, and restaurants, of course (hint: users who use Instagram to make money).

I’ve never felt the need to share my Instagram posts using a QR code.
