Pros and Cons

6 14First and foremost let us talk about the pros and cons. The LG 24GL600F offers FreeSync with variable refresh rate support, low input lag, and motion blur reduction on a 144hz display for better and fluid viewing experience and best for competitive gaming, however, the downside is it has a poor viewing angle, and because it’s a TN panel there’s a shift in color and contrast if you look at it from a different angle. Blacks and colors aren’t that good. With that being said, what can we expect from this monitor?

Build

18 8LG 24GL600F has a Gundam-like, gamers-feel because of its ergonomic design, a black matte finish with a red accent. On the back, it has a circular ventilation grille and inside is the LG logo, and even if it only has a tilt-only stand, it offers four screw holes to put a monitor arm stand for better positioning.

3 15There also we can see the ports. 1 Display port 1.2, 2 HDMI ports, all have max resolution output of 1920×1080@144Hz, then there’s also a headphone out and lastly, a 19V DC-IN for the power supply. The stand is solid and below it, is a hard steel plate base which is a nice addition and the design adds another gaming factor though I wish that the circular design on the back has some LED lighting which will make the monitor really stylish.

Display

7 13The LG 24GL600F boasts a 24″ 1080p TN Panel with a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 8bit 16.7m color space but unlike IPS panels the colors aren’t that accurate and as we said earlier it has poor viewing angles and colors and contrast shifts when you look from different angles so better use it when you are leveled with the monitor to have a better viewing. What’s good about the display is, again, it offers 144Hz which is so pleasing to the eye and helpful and useful in competitive gaming as it helps you react fast and see fluid motions. And seeing it on hands-on is definitely a unique and new experience. But since it is a budget level 144hz the screen isn’t as smooth compared to premium monitors but it offers tons of features to boost and enhance the viewing experience which we will talk about later so read along.

16 11It has a 1ms response time for fast-paced games which Gamers will usually pick the lowest possible response time and 1ms monitors are most used in esports.

15 13Display quality isn’t that bad it has a 1920x1080p 16:9 screen and it is sharp and having it in a 24″ display is acceptable as it doesn’t stretch out the pixels. However, the blacks aren’t that deep, and the contrast is low but It offers backlight strobing and blue light filter, which reduces eyestrain and motion blur perfect for gaming nonstop.

LG 24GL600F offers reliable and useful features that you can see on gaming-centric monitors. But the typical one will be the OSD which you can control via directional buttons below the screen. Accessing the OSD will let you customize the color space, brightness, contrast, etc. and it has 5 different game modes to choose from this is a preset setting that is optimized for games such as FPS and RTS and this will be an advantage. Also, there are some useful tweaks such as a Black Stabilizer–to boost shadows and see enemies in dark environments, and yes we tested it as we played FPS games and it is useful in some cases. Also, it offers cheap crosshairs to improve aiming and quick scoping especially when you are using a sniper. And it’s up to you if you want to use it or not. Then from there are other features such as Dynamic Action Sync–which minimizes input lags for more responsive gaming and the 1ms motion blur reduction to reduce the blur and provide a more fluid motion.

11 14Quick Tip: If you are seeing a lower refresh rate and don’t know how to change the Refresh rate, just go to the Display Settings > Advanced Display Settings > Display adaptor properties for Display 1 > Monitor Tab > Then Choose your desired refresh rate. (Windows 10)

12 13LG also provides On-Screen controls in their monitors for easy adjustment using the pointer or mouse. This includes Screen Split 2.0 for multitasking if you’re not using it for gaming then you’ll have 14 different multitasking window layouts for easy navigation. Then brightness and contrast slider with picture mode options and the FreeSync toggle.

13 13And thanks to Radeon FreeSync, the LG 24GL600F provides fluid gaming experience without tearing as it uses adaptive sync technology for FPS compensation. This means that if your fps are within the refresh rate range it will auto adjust the refresh rate. And upon viewing the settings of the monitor it has a 50Hz-144Hz range. This monitor also works on Nvidia cards.

Pricing and Conclusion
