vivo V70 Review

We have a new device in our hands, and it’s vivo’s latest offering in its V series, the vivo V70.

If you’re curious what this device has to offer, read more to find out!

Design

Let’s start with the design and build. Our review unit comes in the Alpine Gray color variant. And there is something about this finish that complements the phone’s clean and minimalist aesthetic.

Compared to its predecessor, the V70 shows subtle visual changes. The most noticeable updates are the redesigned camera module and the shift to flat edges.

In terms of in-hand feel, it now feels more premium. It delivers a similar, though not identical, feel to the vivo X300.

One key improvement is the removal of the curved edges. It is also slightly smaller than the V60, allowing it to sit more comfortably in the hand.

The device weighs 194 grams, which may sound a bit heavy on paper. However, during extended use, it did not cause any noticeable discomfort.

Overall, in terms of appearance, the V70 resembles a flagship device more than a typical mid-range smartphone.

Display

The vivo V70 features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display paired with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and a peak brightness of 5000 nits.

In daily use, the display delivers impressive quality. Colors appear vibrant, while details remain sharp and crisp. Despite having flat edges, the bezels are slim, giving users a more immersive viewing experience.

Outdoor visibility is also a strong point. Thanks to its high brightness levels, content remains clear and visible even under direct sunlight.

Whether for gaming, watching videos, or casual browsing, the screen consistently delivers a premium viewing experience.

Cameras

The V series has always highlighted camera performance, and the vivo V70 continues that tradition.

It comes with a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. On the front, it features a 50MP selfie shooter.

In good lighting conditions, the V70 delivers reliable and versatile photo performance. Images show vibrant colors and solid detail retention.

Rear Camera Sample Shot

Whether shooting landscapes or selfies, the results are social media-ready without requiring additional post-processing.

The telephoto lens performs well for zoom shots and portrait photography, offering good subject separation and clarity.

Selfie Camera Sample Shots

For video recording, the device supports up to 4K at 60FPS on both the rear and front cameras. Video quality is commendable, with balanced colors, decent sharpness, and good detail.

Overall, the camera system is well-suited for users who enjoy documenting their travels or capturing everyday moments.

Performance

Powering the vivo V70 is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, the same processor found in its predecessor.

While some competitors offer stronger raw performance in this segment, the chipset remains capable for everyday use.

As a daily driver, the device feels responsive. It handles multitasking smoothly with minimal issues. Games such as Genshin Impact run well with only minor frame drops.

During video editing tests involving transitions and animations, the device did not experience slowdowns or crashes.

Benchmark Results

  • Antutu benchmark: 1075644
  • Geekbench 6 cpu: 1329 / 4030
  • Geekbench 6 opencl: 4765
  • Geekbench 6 vulkan: 7767
  • 3dmark wild life: 7694

Battery and Charging

The V70 is equipped with a 6500mAh battery. In everyday usage, it can comfortably last a full day on a single charge.

With lighter usage, there was still battery remaining for the following day. Playing Genshin Impact for about an hour resulted in roughly a 21 percent battery drop.

Battery performance will ultimately depend on usage habits. Heavy gaming sessions, especially with titles like Mobile Legends, will naturally drain the battery faster.

Price and Verdict

The vivo V70 is priced at PHP31,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant, PHP35,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model, and PHP39,999 for the 12GB + 512GB configuration.

Overall, the vivo V70 presents itself as a well-balanced midrange device. It offers a vibrant display, a premium-looking design, capable cameras, and a large battery.

However, for power users seeking maximum performance, there may be stronger options available in the market.
