Xiaomi’s smartphone arsenal is pretty much loaded from the entry-level to the highest tier. If you’ve been keeping up with the latest news, the Chinese company keeps on expanding its portfolio with the addition of the Mi 8 Pro. But with the Mi Mix 3 already out in the wild, it gives us five reasons why the Mi Mix 3 is better than the Mi 8 Pro.
The Mi Mix lineup never met the always-criticized notch. On its 3rd iteration, a mechanical slider was introduced instead to pave the way for that fullscreen display. Boasting its 85% screen-to-body ratio, it’s a greater experience when using the phone not to mention its HDR compliant panel.
OPPO R17 Pro vs Mi Mix 3 Specs Comparison
For some reason, Android handsets need off the charts specification. While the Mi 8 Pro settles for 8GB for the top variant, the Mi Mix 3 goes up to 10GB RAM which is more than enough for a desktop-class computer. It doesn’t stop there. It even goes up to 256GB internal storage while the Mi 8 Pro is capped at 128GB.
Mi Mix 3 features two cameras on the front and back while the Mi 8 Pro is missing one more lens for its selfie camera. This means that the additional depth selfie lens allows for better self-portrait shots. Despite having almost the same lenses for the main camera, the Mi Mix 3 comes out on top with its ability to record up to 960fps slow-motion video.

The Mi 8 Pro clocks in at 3000mAh which is, frankly speaking, not enough for a flagship tier smartphone. In other words, every mAh counts here which puts the Mi Mix 3 ahead at 3200mAh. It also comes with the privilege for wireless charging.
Even though the MI 8 Pro was released a month earlier, it still runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. The latest 9.0 Pie version introduces better performance optimization, AI software recognition as well as support for navigation gestures. Sure thing, it’ll arrive sooner than later but XIaomi isn’t the best when it comes to timely software updates.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro
We know it’s just a matter of time before 9.0 Pie hits the Mi 8 Pro so we’re adding one more feature here. Yes, the fingerprint scanner of the Mi MIx 3 is the traditional type while the Mi 8 Pro boasts its under-display scanner. However though, Xiaomi’s traditional fingerprint scanner is one, if not, the best biometric scanner out there due to its ability to recognize at a very, very fast rate.
