Nowadays, chargers within smartphone packaging are an uncommon sight. This practice was pioneered by Apple, and other producers immediately followed. The practice was continued by OPPO by including a charger with each of its smartphones. Now, it appears that the business will also join the “No charger club” along with other manufacturers.
Billy Zhang, Oppo’s VP of international sales and services, stated that the company will “remove the charger out of the box in the next year for various devices” at the European launch event for the Oppo Reno8 series. He omitted to specify which gadgets will lose the charger, though.
“Since [SuperVOOC chargers] are difficult for users to obtain, we must retain them in the package. However, as our business grows, we want to remove chargers from their packaging and place them in the store so that our customers may purchase them and use them even after upgrading their devices”, Zhang said.
The bulk of the OPPO goods may still come with chargers, as the CEO said; just certain of the devices would no longer have chargers. Additionally, the business will sell the chargers in stores so that people can readily buy them.
Since major OEMs like Apple and Samsung have been sending their phones without chargers for years, this development shouldn’t come as a surprise. Companies hope to lessen their carbon footprint and help the environment by cutting down on plastic waste by getting rid of chargers.
More details about this are expected to emerge soon. We’ll keep you posted!
