The Samsung Galaxy A8 2016 version with upgraded specs and Marshmallow OS has been officially launched in South Korea today along with a hefty price tag of $580 USD or about P26k-28k pesos in the Philippines. Although the official SRP includes the taxes, it may still change once available or released in the Philippines and other countries like India.
Design-wise, the Galaxy A8 2016 departs slightly from the original all-metal Galaxy A8 of 2015. The new mid-ranger phablet inherits the 5.7-inch FHD Super AMOLED screen, rounded corners, and curved sides of the Galaxy C7 with the addition of new blue paint job, a flushed camera, and repositioned antenna lines on top.
The usual bells and whistles are still present like the LED notification light, dual SIM model option, and fingerprint scanner.
Under the hood is a new Exynos 7420 octa-core processor that’s clocked 2.1GHz speed while RAM is 3GB, and the storage is 32 or 64GB–both are expandable with microSD card up to 256GB. The camera on this shooter is the new 16MP f1.9 main sensor and an 8MP f1.9 selfie for portrait shots–all these hardware will be powered by a 3300mAh battery.
There’s no definite release date yet for other countries except that it’s available in South Korea this first week of October.
