Despite recent reports questioning its launch, iQOO has announced that the upcoming iQOO 16 will feature a 2K display with a 165Hz refresh rate, making it the world’s first smartphone with this display combination.
The display was revealed during the Samsung Display × iQOO screen technology event. It uses Samsung’s new 2K LEAD 2.0 technology, which was developed in collaboration with iQOO.
The panel also uses Samsung’s M16 luminescent material, making the iQOO 16 the first Android smartphone to use the technology.
For color performance, the display offers 1.24 times P3 gamut coverage and screen-by-screen calibration. iQOO also says it has improved color and brightness uniformity compared with the previous generation.
The iQOO 16 will also feature a new touch chip with up to 5,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling and 500Hz multi-finger sampling. It also uses iQOO’s Q-flex control technology, which is designed to reduce touch input latency during gaming.
In terms of brightness, the display supports up to 1,100 nits of manual peak brightness, 2,800 nits of global peak brightness, and up to 10,000 nits of local peak brightness.
It is also expected to use Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, a 2nm chipset that is set to be introduced soon.
iQOO has yet to announce the full specifications, pricing, and availability of the iQOO 16.
