Xiaomi will announce the Redmi Note 9s on March 23
A new phone is about to be released by Xiaomi which looks like an extended model of the Redmi Note 9 family. Last week, the company announced the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. With no vanilla Redmi Note 9 to see, we guessed that a separate launch event is reserved for it. While it’s not the exact model we’re waiting for, the Redmi Note 9s is the closest thing we get. Given Realme is the biggest competitor of Xiaomi in the budget segment, we feel like it has no choice but to match the unending offering of Realme in every price segment.
OPPO’s previous sub-brand managed to one-up Xiaomi with the release of Realme 5i. It replaces the base model of Realme 5 for the same price of P6,990 while doubling down on the storage. Now that Realme 6i is already on the horizon, the company might be answering that upcoming release with its own Redmi Note 9s. Aside from a centered-pinhole selfie camera and four main cameras, there’s not a lot to uncover about Redmi’s upcoming budget phone. However, there’s a good chance that a MediaTek chipset may be used to keep the price a bit lower (maybe, the Helio G80?). With all said, we should learn more about the device in the next few days.
