A poster confirming the Realme 6i launching with MediaTek Helio G80 chipset has surfaced. The upcoming budget phone from the company has been spotted weeks ago with a 5000mAh battery and an upgraded 18W USB-C charger. While we were skeptical at first of its authenticity, due to the very close release of Realme 5i, apparently, Realme 6i is really happening. There’s no word yet regarding pricing nor launch date, however, a few things were pointed out regarding the new chipset.
MediaTek’s Helio G80 features 2x 2.0GHz Cortex-A75 and 6x 1.8GHz Cortex-A55 CPUs. Its older sibling, the Helio G70, however, has 4x 2.0GHz Cortex-A75 and 4x 1.7GHz Cortex-A55. Based on the comparison video shown by the manufacturer, Helio G70 is better than Snapdragon 665. Comparing the G70 and G80, the newer chipset appears to be slower due to the use of two high-performing cores only. Fortunately, GPU performance doesn’t share the same story. Both chipsets are rocking Mali-G52, but, the G80 is clocked at a higher 950MHz vs the 820MHz of G70. We’re guessing that MediaTek has to keep only two performance cores in order to maintain regulated temperature due to the higher GPU clock speed.
