ZTE has launched an affordable smartphone called the nubia Music. This device is truly unique because of its features, and the best part? It’s priced under PHP5,000! Here’s our review of the nubia Music.
Design
The ZTE nubia Music stands out in its price range with a unique design approach. Unlike most smartphones that feature speaker grilles around the frame, the nubia Music places its speaker on the back. This design choice is complemented by a colorful back panel, reminiscent of a Piet Mondrian painting, with polka dots that give it a comic book-like aesthetic.
The speaker itself is a highlight, featuring a DTS X logo that lights up when you’re listening to music or watching videos.
Additionally, the nubia Music offers a dual headphone jack on the top frame, allowing users to share music or watch movies with someone else without having to share earphones—an uncommon feature in this price bracket.
Display
The nubia Music is equipped with a 6.6-inch HD+ IPS LCD that supports a 90Hz refresh rate. Despite being a 720p display, it provides decent color output, making it suitable for multimedia consumption.
The display quality holds up well, with no noticeable color shifts when viewed from different angles, which is impressive given the device’s affordable price.
Cameras
On the camera, the nubia Music features a dual-camera setup, led by a 50MP main shooter. While the secondary rear camera and selfie camera have unspecified sensors, the 50MP main camera performs adequately, capturing sharp and detailed shots with a good dynamic range. It also supports up to 4x zoom and includes an HDR mode for enhancing photo quality.
Check out its sample photos below:
The 8MP selfie camera delivers the kind of performance you’d expect from a budget smartphone—acceptable quality with sufficient detail and sharpness, though colors can be inconsistent.

For video recording, the rear cameras can shoot at 1080p@30fps, while the selfie camera records at 720p@30fps.
Performance
Under the hood, the nubia Music is powered by a 28nm Unisoc SC9863A processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The RAM can be expanded virtually to a total of 8GB, and the device runs on Android 13 with MyOS 13. The presence of pre-installed apps might be a concern for some users, but these can be easily uninstalled.

Audio Quality
The audio performance is where the nubia Music shines. The speaker is loud and clear, with a volume booster that can take the maximum volume up to 600%. This feature is particularly useful for multimedia consumption, allowing users to enjoy music and videos without needing earphones.
Battery & Charging
The nubia Music is powered by a 5000mAh battery, which is paired with 5W charging. In a video loop test, the device lasted approximately 10 hours and 33 minutes. Charging from 0 to 100% takes about 1 hour and 55 minutes, which is fairly standard for this battery capacity.
Conclusion
Overall, the ZTE nubia Music is a compelling option for those looking for an affordable, music-centric smartphone. Priced at just 3,999 pesos, it offers good audio quality, a dual headphone jack, and a decent display. While it may not be the most powerful device in its segment, its unique features make it stand out. Audiophiles on a budget might find the nubia Music to be an intriguing choice.
