Google has officially rolled out its revamped Find My Device network for Android users worldwide, starting with the US and Canada today. This upgraded system is compatible with Android 9 and later versions, promising to simplify device tracking even when they’re offline.
Google also emphasizes its commitment to user safety and privacy with multi-layered protections, including end-to-end encryption for location data and innovative device location reporting to prevent unwanted tracking to private locations.
Excitingly, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro users will enjoy special perks, as their devices can be tracked even when powered off or with a dead battery, thanks to unique Pixel hardware.
Plus, starting May, new Bluetooth tracker tags from Chipolo and Pebblebee will hit the market, specifically designed to work seamlessly with the Find My Device app. These tags will also offer compatibility with unknown tracker alerts across both Android and iOS, ensuring protection against unwanted tracking.
An added feature coming in May is the “Find nearby” button, aiding users in locating lost devices within close proximity.
