Kaspersky Advocates for Digital Hygiene Education Among Children and Teens

Kaspersky, a cybersecurity company, said that teens and younger kids who spend a lot of time online need to learn about good digital habits to stay safe online.

Kaspersky said in a statement on Monday that 44% of kids ages 8 to 16 were always online, and 73% of teens said they couldn’t imagine life without a smartphone. Half of those teens even bring their phones to bed with them.

37% of the kids have also dealt with online dangers like being bullied or seeing inappropriate material.

Kaspersky recently did a study that found the most popular apps among Filipino kids were Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Messenger, and Roblox. Most of the time, they also use Chrome, watch Netflix, play Call of Duty, and play Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, a mobile online fight arena game.

But Kaspersky just recently warned young gamers about phishing scams that look like popular video games like Roblox.

Cybercriminals are doing this by making fake websites that look like well-known games. This gets kids to download harmful files.

So, the cybersecurity company told parents to keep a closer eye on what their kids do online so they can keep them safe from cyberattacks.

Together with the Department of Education, Kaspersky held a workshop earlier this month on basic internet hygiene for teachers from 71 public schools in Valenzuela City.
