Windows is a complex operating system that can run many processes and programs simultaneously. Because it is so complicated to run, it can have problems from time to time and a little diagnostic run can help these issues.

So, what are these “issues”? The issues could be with the CPU, the memory, the storage, the battery, or some other part of the system.

Windows has some diagnostic tools that can help you determine what’s wrong and fix it. These tools work with different parts of the system and give detailed information about how the parts are doing.

Here are some Windows tools you can use to check your system and get an idea of how it works.

Windows Memory Diagnostics

Occasionally, Windows Memory Diagnostics could help you figure out why your computer is running slowly, freezing, or hanging or if it isn’t running as well as it should. This Windows program checks the RAM for errors and tells you about them.

  1. Type mdsched.exe in Run and press enter.
  2. Restart and check for issues (recommended). Or choose Check for problems next time I start my computer to run diagnostics later.

  2. Click Windows Logs.
  3. Find by right-clicking system.

Battery Report

On Windows, there isn’t a visual way to tell how healthy your device’s battery is. But still you have a powercfg command line interface that can figure out what’s wrong with the battery and show you details like how much it’s being used, how much it can hold, how many times it’s been used, etc.

  1. Open Terminal with Windows+X.
  2. Click Terminal
  3. Type batteryreport.powercfghow to run a diagnostic on pc4
  4. The report’s path will show in a notification titled “Battery life report saved to file path.” 
  5. Open battery-report.html. It provides battery health details and even recent usage.
