It still sports a capable chipset, but will it be enough to handle our usual games?

We’ll start with a fully charged device and see how well its battery performs when it comes to gaming.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

We began our gaming session at exactly 4:41 PM, starting with Mobile Legends.

We started playing Mobile Legends at 4:41 PM. The game defaulted to a high frame rate with low power resolution, but we switched all settings to the highest possible.

During gameplay, everything ran smoothly. No stutters, no frame drops, even in team fights. The frame rate stayed consistent throughout.

There was one moment out of combat when the FPS hit 121, which is surprising since the phone only supports up to 120Hz.

The device also didn’t heat up, even after playing a few rounds.

So, for Mobile Legends with maxed-out settings, we got 101 to 119 FPS in and outside of clashes.

League of Legends: Wild Rift

Next up, we tested Wild Rift. Its default settings were set to Performance with 60 FPS, so we switched to Custom and maxed out everything.

The gameplay performance was similar to Mobile Legends, with consistent FPS above 100, which is great.

No stutters or frame drops; however, loading times were a bit slower. The opening sequence lagged slightly, but once we got into the game, we never encountered any performance issues.

So, for League of Legends: Wild Rift at max settings, we got around 101 to 119 FPS in and out of clashes.

Call of Duty: Mobile

Third is Call of Duty: Mobile. The default settings were set to High graphics quality paired with Max frame rate. We adjusted the frame rate to Ultra and tested its responsiveness. Right from the loading screen, we could already feel the smooth gameplay.

It was responsive, with no stutters or frame drops, which is great. You can easily land flick shots with little to no problems.

We also got consistent FPS, making the gameplay experience very enjoyable.

For Call of Duty: Mobile with Low graphics and Ultra frame rate, we got 56 to 61 FPS during and outside of gunfights.

Zenless Zone Zero

Now onto the more graphically demanding titles. First off is Zenless Zone Zero.

We played on Medium settings with 60 FPS. In the overworld, there were some frame drops while walking around Lumina Square.

As for combat, we tried a single Shiyu Defense run and its performance was solid. There were a few small stutters and frame drops, and the device felt warmer than with the previous games, but most of it was still bearable. You can definitely do both your dailies and end-game content on this device, which is great.

So, for Zenless Zone Zero on Medium + 60 FPS, we got 27 to 33 FPS in the overworld and 24 to 36 FPS in combat.

Genshin Impact

Next up is Genshin Impact. Using the same Medium + 60 FPS setting, our overworld exploration was smooth.

There were no stutters or frame drops when traversing the terrains of Natlan.

As for combat, we tried a floor in the Abyss and the performance was similar to Zenless Zone Zero, but this time with no noticeable stutters or frame drops.

For Genshin Impact, we got 31 to 40 FPS while exploring, and around 38 to 44 FPS in combat.

Wuthering Waves

Lastly, we have Wuthering Waves. Again, on Medium + 60 FPS settings, the performance was surprisingly smooth while navigating Septemont, which is great.

However, in combat, we did experience some stutters and frame drops. This might be a downside for some players, especially since it affects dodging and parrying, which rely heavily on timing.

Overall, it’s still playable and can handle most, but not all, end-game content.

For Wuthering Waves on Medium + 60 FPS, we got 31 to 40 FPS in exploration and 23 to 34 FPS during combat.

Battery Performance and Verdict

After two hours of gaming, our battery dropped from 100% to 75%.

Overall, for a device priced at PHP22,999, the HONOR 400 5G did an impressive job handling both competitive and graphically demanding titles.

Despite using an older chip, it still offers a gaming performance that may not be the best but is enough to handle your needs.

For those planning to get the HONOR 400 5G, its performance on competitive titles won’t be a problem. And for ARPG fans, yes, it can run most Gacha games with only minor issues.

All in all, the HONOR 400 5G can game!
