Google-less Huawei Continues to Plummet as Xiaomi Overtakes

Huawei continues to feel the effect of launching products without Google support. In the latest report of Strategy Analytics, the Chinese company has been beaten by its fellow Chinese competitor, Xiaomi, for third place. Recording 6 million units in global smartphone shipments for February 2020, Xiaomi slightly edges out Huawei which sold 5.5 million units only. It was only last October when Huawei recorded more than twice the number of sold units of Xiaomi. A whopping 22.2 million units for October 2019 against Xiaomi’s 10.5 million units. However, the gap became smaller and smaller until January 2020.

As for the rest of the report, Samsung continues to lead the pack with 18.2 million shipments last month. Right behind the South Korean company is Apple with 10.2 million units. OPPO is only 1.5 million units behind Huawei for the 4th place, while Vivo completes the top five list with 3.6 million units. With Huawei set to release the P40 and P40 Pro, we expect the company to increase its numbers by April. However, it needs to face another enemy which is the coronavirus pandemic.
