Richard Yu, Huawei’s CEO, has already confirmed before that both the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will launch on March 2020 in Paris with or without Google services. But just like the OnePlus 8 series, the first set of leak reveals the design of the company’s new flagship phones.

Huawei P40 and P40 Pro in Mysterious, Dark Renders

Through the collaboration of 91mobiles and @OnLeaks (as usual), we now have a first look at the upcoming Huawei P series. But unlike their typical works, the renders are dark and hard to see. However, OnLeaks pointed out a few interesting notes.

For starters, the P40 standard model will come with a flat display while the P40 Pro is going to use curved glass with slight changes on the corners. Due to the metal corners being curved towards the glass, the screen seems to fold into the metal frame. How it will affect day-to-day usage remains to be seen but we’re still wondering whether or not there’s a purpose for it. Size-wise, it’s said to be between 6.5″ to 6.7″ with the standard model being 6.1″ or 6.2″.

One major change in design comes from the back. Rumors state that at least four cameras will be used. And instead of using a circular module from the Mate 30 Pro, the rectangular module of the P30 Pro has been expanded making it look like the Galaxy S11 renders and the recently-announced Galaxy A51. Looks like the audio jack is still missing as only the USB-C, speaker grille, and sim-slot can be seen from the bottom.

Given the mysterious nature of the renders, we can’t confirm whether there’s an under-screen selfie camera, teardrop notch, or pop-up mechanism. Previous leaks, however, reveal the other specs and features of the P40 Pro. It’s said to sport a monstrous 5500mAh battery with 50W fast charging technology. The display might come with a 120Hz refresh rate and a Leica-based Penta-cam setup — featuring Sony 64MP flagship sensor, 20MP ultrawide, 12MP periscope, macro, and Time-of-Flight lenses(ToF). With all the rumors, one thing is for sure — the device will feature Kirin 990 SoC with 5G.
