Tonic Games Group, the development company responsible for creating Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, is now officially part of Epic Games.
This was confirmed when Epic shared the acquisition and said that “your gameplay isn’t changing and Epic will continue to invest in making the game a great experience for players across platforms.” Epic continues, “your favorite colorful beans will still stumble through the chaos on PC, PlayStation, and soon Nintendo Switch and Xbox.”
It was also reported by Mediatonic along with a FAQ that answers everyone’s biggest questions about the future of Fall Guys.
Along with new features that would come in the future like ones seen in Fortnite and Rocket League, which are also owned by Epic Games, Tonic Games assured players that “your gameplay isn’t changing.” The new features that would be added in the near future are account systems, cross-play, squad-vs-squad, and tons more. It was also disclosed that the team that developed Fall Guys which started at 35, grew to up to 150 members
The developer also mentioned why they chose Epic is because that they’ve been “mutual friends for a while” and also that both teams have “a lot in common and share a lot of the same goals.”
CEO and founder of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney also mentioned that “It’s no secret that Epic is invested in building the metaverse and Tonic Games shares this goal. As Epic works to build this virtual future, we need great creative talent who know how to build powerful games, content, and experiences.”
As of now, Mediatonic didn’t mention or state anything that Fall Guys would be available as a free-to-play game on Epic Games, similar to Fortnite but the company mentions that the game will still be available and continue to remain in Steam.
