Asus has been upgrading its devices to their full potential. Now, Asus has revealed its new gaming flagship phone with the ROG Phone 5. This is packed with awesome features and will surely satisfy any gamers who are looking for a gaming phone that is truly cutting-edge.

For its configurations, the ROG Phone 5 comes in 3 main versions, A, B, and C. Version A, features 12GB or 16GB RAM and has an internal storage of 256GB. When it comes to the C version, it adds an 8/128GB basic model and as for version C, it would pack 8/128GB and 12/256GB memory configurations. Unfortunately for the version C phones and the 128GB version B unit, it will not feature a UFS 3.1 storage while the rest will have one. The Asus ROG Phone 5 Pro will be featuring a single memory option which is 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS storage. As for the Asus ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, it will come with 18GB RAM along with 512GB storage. However, there is no 1TB option as well as a MicroSD slot.

The Snapdragon 888 chipset will be the processor for all three units and would feature a whooping 6,000mAh battery capacity. These will be split into two cells and in between the cells is the motherboard positioned. This is to ensure that the AeroActive Cooler 5 will be closer to the chipset and the heat would be kept away from the gamer’s fingers. The three units will also use Android 11 and gives you an option to utilize the gaming-inspired ROG UI or the stock-like Zen UI.

This also allowed the company to double the charging speed to 65W and can be charged using the USB-C port either on the bottom or on the side. Along with the side port, it also features an HDMI port, which you can connect your headphones or to power up the AeroActive Cooler 5.

As for the display, the gaming phone has a 6.78-inch Samsung-made AMOLED screen. It already has an HDR10+ certification, 111% DCI-P3 color space coverage, and 151% of sRGB. It also has achieved 800 nits at APL100 which is brighter than its predecessor. The ROG Phone 5 features a 1080p+ resolution and 144Hz refresh rate with 1ms of response rate. The previous model had a 270Hz sampling rate which now increased and now has 300Hz. Unfortunately, an adaptive refresh rate is not included. The display features 60, 120, and 144Hz and has an Auto mode that can switch between what content you are viewing. Also, the screen is protected with a Gorilla Glass Victus which features a special coating that helps the user’s fingers glide smoothly even if the hands get sweaty.

The phone’s camera features the same 64MP Quad Bayer sensor (Sony IMX686) including a 2×1 OCL autofocus. As for aperture, it still remains at f/1.8. The second one is a 13MP ultra-wide camera (125°, 11nm) with still no autofocus. Lastly is the 5MP macro camera. The selfie cam still has the 24MP sensor (with Quad Bayer) including a dimmer fixed-focus f/2.45 lens. For video recording, the main rear camera can record 8K/30 fps video or 4K/60 fps.

When it comes to an awesome audiovisual experience, the ROG Phone 5 features a 3.5mm headphone jack that has an ESS Sabre ES9280AC Pro Quad DAC. With Class G, it immediately detects impedance in your headphones and switches modes to the appropriate mode. Also included in the gaming phone are front-firing stereo speakers with the help of two Cirrus Logic CS35L45 amps. Each can provide 21% power to the speaker. It is also aptX Adaptive, LDAC, and AAC codecs supported.

As for accessories, the Pro and Ultimate are bundled with the AeroActivei Cooler 5 which helps reduce the phone’s surface temperature to 15°C and 10°C for the chipset temperature. It also has physical shoulder buttons, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a kickstand. Note that there is also a separate shoulder button, the AirTrigger 5 ultrasonic buttons, even without the cooler.

For more accessories, there is the ROG Kunai 3 Gamepad and is compatible with the ROG Phone 5. There is the ROG Clip that allows the user to hook up a PS$, Xbox, or Stadia controller. It includes a Professional Dock that has an HDMI port and two USB ports.
