The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has already premiered and it is already in their fourth episode this Friday. It is now receiving great reviews as well as praises from both critics and fans. According to news, the MCU series is already the most-watched series premiere ever, dethroning The Mandalorian and WandaVision.
With that said, let us take our glances at the MCU series and see why this is a must-watch TV series. We will not only be looking at one, or two but we will have five reasons why you should be watching The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Be warned, these will contain spoilers from the first three episodes of the MCU TV series.
With all the 23 MCU movies and one TV series, this is not your usual. TFAWS (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier) has an R-rating for violence so expect a different kind of action in each episode. Also, the language they use is mature. If you are planning to watch along with the kiddos, I do suggest guiding them accordingly.
In the series, The Flag Smashers is introduced which is an anti-patriotism group, led by Karli Morgenthau. Their goal is to remove borders and make the world whole when The Blip happened. Then we also have the mysterious Power Broker who has recreated the Super Soldier serum that made Steve Rogers into Captain America and was used to create the Winter Soldier Program. Now, the serum was stolen by the Flag Smashers which made them insanely powerful, wreaking havoc in Europe, which Sam and Bucky need to put to a stop.
We can expect to see some familiar faces from here and there in some episodes. With the first three episodes, we already saw James Rhodes a.k.a. War Machine with Sam. The third episode re-introduced viewers to a villain we last saw who tried to break the Avengers and succeeded. I am talking about Baron Helmut Zemo played by Daniel Bruhl which would help the heroes’ mission. Sharon Carter also returns and tells us about her whereabouts after the events of Captain America: Civil War. We can expect more familiar faces to appear hopefully we get to see Steve Rogers as well.
The first three episodes of TFATWS already gave us deep themes. They have already touched subjects in racism, trauma, and legacy. Like I have said earlier, this show is not your typical TV series. In the first episode, they tackled a few of Bucky’s efforts in confronting his past and make amends with it. In the second episode, we got to witness Sam getting held up by a policeman, which I say was an intense scene. With the three episodes, they tackle the theme of what it means to live up to Steve Roger’s legacy he left behind. We see Sam and Bucky try their best to live their lives without Cap and honor his legacy in the long run. The show is more mature, although there are funny moments, and would let you see things in a different light.
It’s on the title of the show so what more do we expect. In this TV series, we get to see the two work together without Captain America. We already saw glimpses in Captain America: Civil War that the two are having a hard time getting along and that is the fun in the show. You get to see them quarrel like married couples, banter with each other like small children, and make petty teases against each other. Aside from the relationship between the two, we also get to see them work together and grow mature in their roles as heroes.

TFATWS introduces to the MCU a new Captain America as John Walker played by Wyatt Russell. He is honestly doing a great job in portraying the new Cap. In the comics, John Walker also took the mantle of Captain America when Steve Rogers donned the role as Nomad. Similar to his comic counterpart, John Walker is now showing signs of being egotistical which in the comics led him to his downfall. There is a theory going on that John Walker would meet the Power Broker and inject him the Super Soldier Serum, like in the comics. If this happens. Sam and Bucky are in a fight to stop him.
You can already watch the first three episodes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier exclusively on Disney Plus every Friday.
