Users of Samsung Galaxy phones with Windows 11 will soon be able to use the Phone Link software to rapidly turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot on their Galaxy phones from their Windows PC.
This simply means that when your phone is nearby, it will show up in the list of Wi-Fi networks on your computer, where you can click to activate your phone’s hotspot.
Additionally, you would no longer need to seek for hotspot settings on your phone or remember or type passwords. Since ChromeOS and macOS both have features similar to this, it has also been a frequently requested feature.
Requirements to use this feature
- OneUI 4.1.1 (Android 12) or higher
- Must have both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters
- Sim card with Hotspot-capable plan
- Windows 11 version 22H2 Build 22621 or higher
- Phone Link desktop app version v1.22082.111.0 or higher
- Link To Windows phone app (pre-installed on Samsung devices) in version v1.22082.142.0 or greater. Please ensure that your app is up to date on your Samsung device.
Currently, only some Samsung devices will support the new quick hotspot capability, which is now rolling out to Windows devices running the Windows Preview Build (build 25231).
