Qualcomm has confirmed that its next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor will be launching in October.
Recently, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 appeared on the Geekbench platform, providing a glimpse into its performance, though the listed model is not likely the final production version.
The benchmark results are promising! The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 achieved a single-core score of 2884, which is close to the Apple A17 Pro’s average score of around 2915.
However, the real highlight is its multi-core performance, where it scored 8840 points, surpassing the A17 Pro’s average score of about 7300 points.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Performance
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 features a new architecture, moving away from standard Arm cores to a custom Oryon CPU design. This is similar to the design used in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X-series for PCs. The new architecture is expected to bring significant performance improvements.
In terms of core structure, the SD8G4 sports an octa-core configuration with six base cores running at 2.78GHz and two high-performance cores clocked at 4.09GHz.
Despite its impressive specs, it is anticipated to be 25-30% more expensive than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This price increase is likely to affect the cost of flagship smartphones in 2025.
