Right now, its time to throw down the verdict on the SKK Chronos Cross and give out our comprehensive and in-depth review on SKK’s Upsized Budget phone, the Chronos Cross.
The SKK Chronos Cross looks rather simple, yet impressive. The 6-inch SKK Chronos Cross packs a polycarbonate back with added removable back cover for battery replacement. Button positioning is quite similar to the Chronos Byte, with them neatly placed on the right side of the device.
The bigger Chronos Cross seem to look a bit more premium thanks to its upfront bigger size and simply design. For its speaker, just like the Chronos Byte, they’re placed on the rear bottom part of the device, which to be honest shouldn’t be something worth the praise, since the sound is going away the users.
Despite its size, the Chronos Cross is quite handy and lightweight, enabling a more efficient feel to it, despite being a large 6-incher phone.
The Chronos Cross packs a 6-inch qHD display, which to be honest shouldn’t be something that exciting to feel. It seems that viewing experience is much more preferable on the smaller Chronos Byte, since the smaller screen truly brings out the phone’s depth-of-view, however, the Chronos Cross still delivers an average viewing experience nevertheless, which should still interest some users that enjoy watching videos via a bigger screen.
SKK’s Chronos Cross carries an 8MP/5MP camera pairing, which might not interest a few individuals, but nevertheless should do a decent shooting job. The Chronos Cross delivered a decently bright output, with some actually delivering with decent colors.
In daylight shooting, the SKK Chronos Cross performed similarly to its Chronos Byte counterpart but overall did rather poor than the latter. It showed bright and punchy colors, but sharpness and accuracy just weren’t there.
For night shooting ,the Chronos Cross felt lackluster at most times, but it did deliver a few distinguishable outputs nevertheless. Night outputs of the Chronos Cross were a tad bit noisy that upon zooming in, the subject can barely be seen.
Selfie shooting is more favorable to the Chronos Cross. It delivered some decent quality selfie outputs with sharpness and color its standing point. Nevertheless, you shouldn’t expect high-level selfies from a budget phone, though to be honest, the Chronos Cross’ selfies aren’t that bad.
The SKK Chronos Cross runs on a Spreadtrum SC7731 chip, with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM on the side. Performance-wise, it’s actually pretty decent, however, a few stutters and lags here and there have been felt, which might affect a user’s overall experience with the device. Benchmark scores are rather average, with pretty decent numbers showing up.
Antutu Rating
The new SKK Chronos Cross packs an older Android 5.1 Lollipop, with a possible non-stock Android on the side. However, this makes things much simpler than most of the case and will make things easier for new users to understand.
The experience overall is rather mixed, which was the same as to the Chronos Byte. Various lagging and stuttering issues were felt upon launching Youtube and even the browsing app.
Nevertheless, we felt that Chronos Cross have minimized its the problem while prolongingly using the phone. A similar problem seen on the Chronos Byte was also seen on the Cross, particularly the inability to play a downloaded video.
The Chronos Cross packed a bigger battery than the Chronos Byte, gaining in a 2800mAh battery capacity in its belt. We’ve had our time with the device and tested its longevity period, which lasted around 8 to 12 hours maximum.
It seems that the Chronos Cross delivered a better battery performance than the Chronos Byte, thanks to its bigger battery capacity, however, it prolonged charging sessions by a few minutes, landing the Chronos Cross at an hour and 48minutes of charging time.
SKK Chronos Cross
The Chronos Cross’ speaker is located right on the phone’s rear back, which was going towards away the listener, so it’s not technically an ideal spot to put the speaker. Nevertheless, the Chronos Cross delivered a pretty decent audio quality, despite lacking a bit much in the volume department.
The Chronos Cross is priced at Php 3,299 and is quite affordable for a 6-inch smartphone. Nevertheless it despite lacking a few things in the performance category, the price of the Chronos Cross is something that can’t be easily ignored. For as long as you keep things a bit low in the activity department, you shouldn’t have huge problems with the Chronos Cross all-in-all.
