We are back with another gaming review, and this time we’re testing out the TECNO POVA 7 Ultra.
For a smartphone priced under PHP20K, will this device be able to deliver great gaming performance for its value? Let’s find out!

We’ll be trying out 6 games, starting with Mobile Legends. We set the settings to custom and maxed everything out.
During gameplay, we experienced smooth and responsive performance with no visible stutters or frame drops. Even in clashes, the game ran perfectly fine.

The device also didn’t feel warm after a few rounds, which is nice. For Mobile Legends at max settings, we got a consistent 117 to 120 fps.

Next up is League of Legends: Wild Rift. By default, it runs on performance mode with 60 fps, but we bumped everything up to the max settings. There were some noticeable stutters in the opening sequence, which is common on most devices we’ve tested.
However, once in a match, gameplay was smooth, even in clashes, with no major stutters or frame drops. This time though, the device started to feel warm after a few games.

For Wild Rift at max settings, we got 58 to 60 fps.

Third on our list is Call of Duty: Mobile. Its default settings are Very High graphics with Max frame rate. We lowered it to Medium graphics with Ultra frame rate to test its stability.
The gameplay was smooth, with no stutters or frame drops. Gunfights felt fluid, and even fast flick shots landed well. The graphics also looked decent, which is a plus.

For Call of Duty Mobile on Medium + Ultra frame rate, we got a steady 87 to 90 fps.

Now, let’s move on to more graphically demanding titles, starting with Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ). We played on Medium + 60 fps. The device delivered acceptable performance, though frame drops were noticeable during combat. Still, it was playable enough for dailies and endgame content since the drops weren’t too severe.

For ZZZ, we got 17 to 24 fps in combat and 30 to 34 fps in exploration.

Next is Genshin Impact, also on Medium + 60 fps. Performance was quite similar. The game wasn’t the smoothest but still ran decently for its price range.
Exploration was mostly fine, with only minor stutters, but in combat, especially during heavy animations, we experienced frame drops. Still, it was manageable and playable for both dailies and endgame.

For Genshin Impact, we got 20 to 23 fps in exploration and 16 to 21 fps in combat.

Lastly, we tested Wuthering Waves on the same Medium + 60 fps setup. Surprisingly, it gave us a better experience compared to the previous two games.

Combat and exploration both ran smoothly, though the device did feel warmer here than in other titles. We’d recommend letting it rest after a few sessions.
For Wuthering Waves, we got around 36 to 42 fps.
Overall, the TECNO POVA 7 Ultra 5G delivered an impressive gaming performance for its price. It handled competitive titles easily with little to no issues, though it struggled with more demanding games. Even with lower fps in titles like ZZZ, the performance was still bearable and playable.
If you’re looking for a gaming-centric device under PHP20K that won’t break the bank, the TECNO POVA 7 Ultra 5G is worth considering.
