The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon variant or Redmi Note 3 Pro is the upgraded variant of Xiaomi’s budget power phone, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. We’ve had our fair share of experiences with both devices and gotten quite used to them. However, will an upgrade be necessary?

Same old generic design
Both handsets are fairly similar in design and build. Their design felt rather boring and generic, which didn’t actually gave us much interest. Button positioning and back cover were consistent and we didn’t actually expect the handset to carry off any significant changes in design since Redmi Note 3 Pro is particularly the same handset as its original.
Camera performance  is slightly better
The camera performance seen on the Redmi Note 3 Pro is slightly better in terms of performance and capability. It is quite expected since the handset itself has bigger megapixel than the original one. It was seen that daylight shots slightly edged out the original variant, in terms of saturated colours and blendings.
A more efficient hardware performance
Hardware performance is where the huge change seemed to come in for the Redmi Note 3. It’s Snapdragon 650 chip seems to give a better performance in hardware. Benchmark scores and hardware experience felt also speaks for the Redmi Note 3 Pro scoring better marks than the original handset.
Benchmark scores for both Redmi Note 3 handsets
- Redmi Note 3 Pro AnTuTu rating: 65099
- Redmi Note 3 AnTuTu rating:Â 47641

Both have MIUI 7
The one thing that really ticked us off on both Redmi Note 3 handsets were its UI. Both of them carry the same MIUI 7, which in generally didn’t deliver much in terms of UI appeal. Its design is rather bland and just didn’t seem to be something new.
Conclusion
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro truly is an upgraded Redmi Note 3 phone, since its upgraded specs do deliver a more efficient and powerful performance. For a Php 1K added price, though, it felt rather not worth the upgrade. The Redmi Note 3 Pro did have some interesting upgraded specs line, but it seems that the upgrade itself were rather small “tidbits” and it feels that the money you’ll be adding up ain’t that worth it.
