POCO has been a strong player in the midrange market, delivering reliable devices with solid performance and decent cameras.
With that being said, let’s take a look at their latest release, the POCO X7, to see what it offers.
The POCO X7 features a sturdy and compact build. At 185g and 8.4mm thick, it feels slightly heavy but remains comfortable to hold, thanks to its curved edges.
The Silver variant we reviewed has a smooth, glossy finish with a textured-like design on the back panel.
Its camera module is now centered and slightly more protruded than its predecessor, but it causes minimal wobble when placed on flat surfaces.
Durability is a focus, with IP68 dust and water resistance ensuring protection against accidental damage.
For ports, the top houses a speaker grille and IR blaster, the right has volume rockers and a power button, while the bottom includes a SIM tray, USB-C port, microphone, and another speaker grille.
While the design leans toward a minimalistic, premium look, it’s not particularly eye-catching. However, the build quality feels dependable and built to last.
The POCO X7 boasts a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a resolution of 1220 x 2712. It supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+, and has a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The adaptive refresh rate helps conserve battery, but users can also manually set it to their preference.
The display quality is exceptional for a midrange device, offering vibrant colors, sharp visuals, and no noticeable color shift at different angles, making it perfect for binge-watching or gaming.
The POCO X7 is equipped with a 50MP OIS main camera, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. For selfies, it features a 20MP front-facing camera.
In daylight, it produces vibrant colors, good details, and balanced exposure, though shadows can appear overly deep in certain shots.
Decent results in well-lit conditions, though some noise is visible. Proper lighting improves results significantly.
For selfies, it produces true-to-life skin tones with decent HDR processing. The default beautification mode softens details, especially in indoor shots.
For videos, the rear cameras support 4K@30FPS, while the selfie camera records at 1080P@60FPS.
The POCO X7 runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset built on a 4nm process.
It is paired with up to 12GB of RAM (expandable by another 12GB) and 512GB of storage. The device runs Android 15 with HyperOS 2, and POCO promises three major Android updates for extended longevity.
Everyday tasks and multitasking are smooth, and the device handles productivity and entertainment effortlessly.
Gaming performance is strong for competitive titles but struggles slightly with heavier games at higher settings, where some stuttering may occur.
The POCO X7 is powered by a 5110mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.
In a video loop test, the device lasted around 15 hours and 33 minutes, while charging from 0 to 100% took approximately 55 minutes.
The POCO X7 is available at PHP14,999 for the 8GB+256GB model and PHP16,999 for the 12GB+512GB version.
While it doesn’t offer a huge leap over the POCO X6, it introduces a refined design, a newer chipset, and impressive durability.
For those seeking a reliable midrange device with solid features and long-term software support, the POCO X7 is a good choice.
However, with many competitors in this price range, it might not stand out unless you value its specific features.
