Update as of 5/14/2020 – Xiaomi Mall responded that the device comes with a 1-year international service warranty, adding that the warranty is valid in the Philippines.
POCO F2 Pro was announced yesterday as the global version of the Redmi K30 Pro. The previously-managed Xiaomi company launched the device with €499(~P27,000) and €599(~P32,600) price tags. Through Gearbest, it’s a little bit less expensive at $499.99(~P25K). Although POCO (or Xiaomi) never said an official release date for the Philippines, we’ve been seeing sponsored posts of the device from a verified Facebook account. Linking to Lazada Philippines’ website, the post will redirect you to LazMall’s Xiaomi Mall Poco F2 Pro listing. From the listing, the device reveals the P26,450 price but with a 6% discount that puts the cost down to P24,950.
While we do have our skepticism when shopping on Lazada and Shoppe (due to a large number of unauthorized sellers), Xiaomi Mall nearly has everything to provide you confidence in purchasing their products, such as the LazMall mark and good ratings. That is in addition to the already verified POCO Facebook page. But digging through the accounts, we found out that the Facebook page has no profile information under its About section. While its Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube accounts are linked, such accounts don’t exist when opened. Furthermore, the images used for the listing show the Redmi moniker instead of POCO. There’s a chance that you might receive the Chinese variant which is the Redmi K30 Pro.
With that in mind, we recommend refraining from buying their products since we can’t vouch for its legitimacy. The products may be authentic but we’re worried about the warranties that might not be recognized locally.
For now, we’ve reached out to Xiaomi Philippines and waiting for their reply.
